So after looking for a bit I found the car that I feel suit my father's needs: reliable / smooth. It also suffices for what I wanted and thats NAV / ML speakers / Backup cam. We want to find an LS460 but prices are too high right now and we hope they will drop.

Here is the car:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOD-L...item35a4ffa90c

I spent a lot of time researching this vehicle. The car was bought and serviced at Lexus of Clearwater and sold there and then subsequently sold as a CPO in June which is good along with new tires / new brakes. I spoke to the service rep who managed that particular car and he told me everything AND SCDROPTOP (aka the man) got me a print out of ALL services it had done so I was able to talk to the service rep (Jake) at Lex of Clearwater to make sure all was well--which it seems to be. I also checked carfax / autocheck for what they are worth and they were also clean. The car was traded into Mercedes of Tampa (next to Clearwater) and then bought in a dealer auction from the dealership I want to buy the car from. I checked out the whole car for all OEM VIN stickers on all the parts and EVEN brought a paint meter which showed no real abnormalities. Then I took the car to JM Lexus (where we purchased our cars new) and had them take a look and they gave me the okay. I feel a bit safer after all this BUT I wanted to know anything else you guys would recommend to look at. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

The swiveling vents didn't work on the mid-driver side which isn't a deal breaker for me, but is something that annoys me...how much is this to fix and how often do they go "out"

Can anybody tell me what is suppose to be the difference btw the sport setting and the normal. Does the height mode contribute to how the sport setting is suppose to react? Also in the pwr mode vs normal mode, I also can't really feel the difference in the tran shifting? Is pwr mode suppose to be faster or just more responsive? Can anyone explain that to me as well?

The 2004-2006 rear sunshade folds down in reverse (like the 2001-2003), but returns to the UP position when you return to a forward gear.

When misting your windshield (using the wiper control on the steering column), the headlight sprayer also sprays automatically on 2004-2005 models equipped with headlamp washers.

I'm comparing how my 2001 LS430 UL behaved compared to my 2005 LS430 UL. I'm sure I'll find other little improvements over the next few months of ownership.

My Canadian 2005 LS430 has a metric speedometer, metric odometer and Imperial (American) display. Is there a way to convert the display to metric, so that I am reading Lt/100km (or km/Lt) instead of miles/US gallon? Am I missing a setting somewhere. My dealer says it can't be done.
Thanks

Is anyone else having this problem? Any way to fix?

Can anyone answer these three items for me on the '01-'03 LS430s??

A - If an LS430 has the rear shade option on it, does it also then have the rear-side window shades as well? I know they are all there on the Ultras, but I'm not sure about the other cars I've seen. I believe the rear shade comes on the Custom Luxury option, but I'm not clear on whether the rear-side shades come with that as well.

B - What package did the laminated safety glass come with on the '01-'03 LS430s, other than the Ultra package? Was there another package that had it?

C - Last but not least, can a sport-suspension kit of some kind be installed to an LS430 that doesn't come with it from the factory?

TIA!
