Have few quick questions, my sisters 1996 Honda civic auto trans failed on Sunday the sis started the car put it in R and it went forward, then she tried again and same thing happened except one of the hoses blew and all the trany oil leaked out R.I.P ( Honda transmissions ftl:mad:)The best part is any parts and bills have to come out of my pocket since money is so tight these days im willing to help her out and save my parents the pain:egads:.I found out that the 1996-00 Honda civic auto trans had Linear Solenoid problems and would cause the trans to slip, the transmission shift harshly, or it stays in first gear. Was wondering if I should replace the linear solenoid, trans filter and do a full trans flush and hope it might fix it or should I just prepare my self for a new transmission?
-Anyone here owned a 96-00 civic with the same issues?
-Anyone here know of a place where i can purchase a used transmission for a fair price?
Here is the link with some info and the parts that tend to failhttp://autorepair.about.com/cs/faqs/l/bl127e.htm
Thanks in advance, any information would be greatly appreciated!

Just got the custom fit mats from MacNeil automotive. They are local in Downers Grove if you are not familiar with them. I haven't ordered anything in a long time from them. Have always been happy and they are in our back yard:thumbup:

They have custom fit floor liner. I have yet to see anything better in the industry. They only offer for the AWD vs of my GS but worth checking into with the winter around the corner. Was thinking about taking my car over to see if they would make them for me. I believe only the drives mat is different on the AWD models and the rest are the same exact size.

I was lazy and had them shipped but you can pick up from their warehouse in Downers Grove and save on the shipping cost. Like how they fit on the TSX. Looks like they will be worth the $$ in the winter months.

Worth checking out if your OEM mats are warn out or just looking for a new set.

I think this is another way for cops to get money.

-Chicago Tribune-
Ermir Spahiu was pulled over by police for his window-mounted GPS unit. For Tina Ross, it was her handicapped placard. And Mark Hubbard was nailed for an air freshener. All three Illinois drivers were stopped for what they thought were innocent items placed near their windshields.

"It really threw me for a loop," said Hubbard, recalling his 2008 encounter with Rolling Meadows police over a 2-inch scented medallion that dangled from his rearview mirror.

An increasing number of drivers are being cited for windshield and window obstructions, which can include anything an officer deems to "materially obstruct" a driver's vision. The only exceptions are government-issued items such as I-PASS boxes and parking stickers.

Since 2004, the number of motorists stopped by state police for breaking the obscure law has jumped 91 percent. In 2004, about 20,000 drivers were warned or cited, most of them receiving warnings. This year, the number is expected to hit about 38,000.
Of course it had to be BLACK/BLACK....and it looks soooo good. JMKiang I think we need to hit this with some wax before winter if its not too soon??
Outside of this surprise for the Mrs last night I have been working my @ss off like crazy. I am hardly on here anymore due to the amount of stuff I have going on with work and family there is no time to play any more but I cant complain either.
Hope all is well with everyone:thumbup:

Hi, folks. Been a CL member a while, but never checked into the Chicago forum.

I have a 2001 LS430 with ML sound system (NO nav), and have finally blown the stock sub. I am looking for the following:

1. Which speakers, currently available, are the closest to "drop-in" fit for the 8-inch sub? (I've read that the impedance is either 12 or 16 Ohms - anyone know for sure?) I may want to add an amp later, but for now, it will be just a new sub.

2. Can anyone suggest a good shop in the northwest suburban area (Des Plaines, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, etc.) who can do the sub replacement for a "very picky" customer? (Picky as in the car is over 8 years old and looks like new.) Prefer a shop that has done LS before, I really don't want to have to teach them myself. . .

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've posted in the Lexus Electronics forum and had no replies, so I thought I would try the locals.
