Default ES 350 Engine missing or lagging

Only have driven 2900 miles and engine frequently misses when it slows from 40 mph down to 35 mph. After a test drive dealer told me that car is handling normally. Can't be true. I consistently get a "lagging" feeling whenever I slow down from 40 plus mph to 35. My foot remains on the accelerator with just a slight decrease in foot pressure.
I'm returning to dealer next week and I don't know what I will do if they tell me the vehicle is acting normal. Please help. I want to love this car!

It could be the transmission downshifting as you slow down.

I experience the same motions when the car downshifts from higher gear to next lower gear. Agree with LexBob.

Thats one reason i like the electric drive with the CVT transmission. I forgot what a downshift or an upshift feels like.

My wife has a '14 Honda with a CVT trans. I'll take the gears anytime...

The Corvette only has two gears. Low and high Slip and slide with Powerglide....

I believe they are totally different CVTs. Honda uses belts and Toyota/Lexus uses gears.

With only 3K miles, I would be amazed if the engine is actually missing. Thieves don't usually steal engines that soon

Seriously -- It is almost certainly the transmission down-shifting. The computer shuts the engine down during the shift. The whole thing happens much more quickly than any of us could ever do with a clutch and a manual transmission.
