If you are not aware, search the GS forum. With DI you do not get the valves cleaned by the fuel since it is not passing over them. Some engines have a standard injector and DI setup to help this issue but I am not sure which ones do and don't. I think DI is the cause for the so equipped engines needing more top end cleaning. There are others here that may be able to explain it better than me. In either case, I am glad her new ES does not have DI.
German cars with DI are also having issues with valves. Some require shell blasting of the heads/valves to clean the build up. I am also glad the ES don't have DI.

Well the 2013-2015 GS350 have direct and port injection...probably to remedy this problem. The 2016 ES will probably have a similar setup.

If the tail lamps can be swapped directly, I'm definitely getting them.

I have no knowledge of when the 2016 ES will be available, but my guess is that it will be very early relative to when new model year vehicles are customarily available.

Once the announcement of the refresh has been made and from that point on and since the refresh includes a good number of changes, I would expect that dealers will have to be offering significant discounting to move remaining 2015 ES inventory. When the dealers are able to start selling the 2016 ES, for at least a while, discount levels are likely to be much lower. Thus, I would expect that Lexus and its dealers will want to be able to start selling the 2016 model with its higher profit margins as soon as possible. With that thought in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if the factories have already stopped production of the 2015 model and started production on the 2016 model. And with Lexus production in the US scheduled to start before the middle of 2015, it would make sense for them to be starting production of the 2016 vehicles here very soon, if they haven't already done so.

I would also guess that delivery time for the 2016 - coming from Kentucky - will be much shorter than coming thru the Panama Canal. Maybe one can just pick their car up down there.
Wouldn't that be nice...

is there a way to contact someone at corporate Lexus to get an idea when the car will be available in US? when you use the lexus website contact section--you get worthless vague answers from their PR clerks--I suspect that information is known now but you cannot get a straight answer from the corporate office

I like the way it looks I think the interior looks better although it seems to have some LS features in there as well, guessing that will only be for Europe and Asian market.

It's a nice refresh but not compelling enough to switch out if you have a 2013-15 model.

How about a prospective new buyer?

Not a huge fan of the front end changes, but do like the slightly refreshed rear design, and like the new interior option(s)

The addition of Flaxen is nice. Total of four colors now, with Parchment, Stratus Gray and Black. Woods look good and was reading matte bamboo is added not sure if it replaces the clearcoated one. Shifter is more luxurious and great to finally see more padding (similar to GS/LS) along the shift console, though that plastic is still the same scratchy crap. The steering wheel plastics are improved, looks similar to the 2016 RX wheel. Also note the Remote Touch has switch back to what looks like an 'Enter' button on the left side like the 2010-2012 RT equipped vehicles (exception CT). This specific one also has auto folding mirrors
