Default did I pay too much fees at herb chambers?

One sticker its shows

Total MSRP*:

$48,327.00

Which includes a deliver, processing and handling fee - of 910 $

and then on top of that there is a documentations fee of $ 298 on the final bill.

Now there is no mention of destination fee but the base price on the sticker is listed as 36620$.

I really liked dealing with the dealer and want to believe this is justified or just an oversight....

Now the dealership is quite reputable based on my research. Could this be a mistake?

The Lexus website shows that fee (sometimes it called the Destination Charge) as $925, so think that is what you are looking at. A standard fee across the country, on all the Monroney labels.

dest chrg is legit...doc fee varies by dealer, and at 298.00 maybe the range where you are located. mine was around 200.00 the highest i've ever paid at a dealer. was it because of the lexus badge? perhaps....

I've found that dealers can make this documentation fee whatever they want and whatever the customer will pay without objecting. It is the dealer mailing in the sale paperwork to obtain your title to the car. And if you aren't transferring a tag, for new tags. It is a rip IMO and nothing but a BS charge to add to the dealer bottom line. On one deal I was making, I flatly refused to pay it. The salesman informed that it was a mandatory fee charged to everybody. I told him to charge me what it cost for a title or I'm outta here. There is no way it cost $295.00 to facilitate titling of the car.
I wound up paying $99.00, a saving of $200.00. You're the boss! Negotiate! Most they can say is NO.

Default Documentation Fees

Documentation fees are just another way of saying additional dealer profit. When getting quotes on a vehicle, I always ask for the "Out The Door Price". Let the dealer decide how competitive he wants to be. If they really want to sell the car, the "Doc Fees" can be very flexible.

Exactly. My doc. fees on some of my cars have been as high as $499. This is pure dealer profit. While negotiating my deal, I ask what the doc, fee is going to be, then my offer is adjusted accordingly.

Everything is good. That's about the standard price. I too bought from Herb Chambers, in Sharon, had a great salesman!

The destination cost is fixed, but as others have said the doc fees can vary and are pretty much profit to the dealer. I think 298 is typical, but you've still made out on your deal overall. Be happy and enjoy your new Lexus.
