Crunch time: 2014 new with ultra luxury - questions
Guys -
1 how many miles (test miles) is too much?
2. What should I look for - check for
3. Buying out of state- is the new car warranty transferred to other states??
4. Body side mouldings - get them?
5. What has changed comparing the car to the 2015- researched this but I understand there have been no changes except the way the navigation is displayed and the 15 min save for the radio to listen to later on.
No body/engine/structural changes - correct?
6. If j have any problems with the car after the purchase - I can go to any other dealer to get it fixed - right??
7. Before I leave to get the car I might have to put down some deposit - to ensure that the car will be there when I get there/ how much should be?
8. The mist important question - what are the defects I should look for? I.e wind noise and what else?
9. Should I ask the dealer to change the tires to something else??
10. Would you personally consider a new 2014 model ??
Sorry guys- fir so nant questions - it's a first big purchase and I don't want up make a wrong decision ..,

1. Depends if it was a dealer trade. Less than 40 miles would probably be ok.
2. Look for scratches and dings on body. Look for chips on windows.
3. Warranty is honored in all 50 states at Lexus dealers.
4. No to the hideous body side molding that breaks the clean lines of the ES.
5. "A new multimedia system, similar to the one introduced last year on the IS 250/350 and other Lexus models, includes a customizable home screen, 3-D maps and a bird's-eye view for the navigation system, traffic guidance, the ability to cache 15 minutes of radio broadcasts for later play and other features" (cars.com). No body, engine, or structural changes.
6. Depends what kind of problem. If it's mechanical, then it will be covered under warranty if you take it to any Lexus dealer. If it's cosmetic, then you're paying out of pocket.
7. I would say no deposit until you see the car. If they require, then make sure it's refundable or apply it to your down payment.
8. Defects like wind noise and rattles can be fixed by the dealer under warranty for 4 years/50K miles.
9. It seems like the consensus is that Michelins is the best choice of tire for this car. You can ask the dealer to swap if it already has Bridgestones, but they might charge a fee.
10. For the right price, I would consider the 2014 since not much changed for the 2015.

5. I have both the last generation Navigation and the new for 2015 Navigation. I like the new Navigation better than the old. Better traffic information and it is free. It also gives you the speed limit for the road you are traveling on. If you want traffic information with the 2014 and below, you have to pay for it after the trial period. If these are important for you, give it careful consideration so you do not have buyers remorse.

LOL, I think my "hideous" BSM actually improves the lines. I didn't like them at first, and wouldn't have added them if they weren't already installed. But, I'm now happy I have them. My wife has opened her door into my car on several occasions. Without the BSM, I would have many small dings, or another ex.

I actually added the BSM to my car. I like the thought of some protection and the look as well. I think the door is too long w/o moldings.

Is this something that can be fixed with an updated software before I actually take possession of the car?
