Default would you like 30 mpg from es350

just posted this reply to pirelli on gs forum who went to s300 hybrid.. thought i would pass on info for all those driving an es 350 but don't like mpg and don't want the hybrid w cvt due to city smoothness with power train.

, had a couple loaners when my ls430 was in for service and the car has a nice balance of ride, comfort and mpg, i compared and contrasted the cvt and for me the stop and go with the hybrid still is not to my taste but the city mpg are outstanding. i recently traded my ls got into a honda and decided to get into a 4 cyl camry 2015 xle.
out the door with nav and leather for 23,500
4cyl getting combine 29.8
and highway mileage is 39mpg at 68 mph with cruise
its basically a baby s350 with a 4 cylinder
not many people know about it so wanted everyone to know you can get a baby es with the changes they made to noise and ride, even the nav w jbl is the same nav interface lexus uses.
its not a lexus the front seat is not as comfy as es 350 but for 23,500 vs 40 k its a no brainer.
i was going to buy an es350 but didnt want the 21 mpg combined.
safe driving and luck with the new ride

Are you trying to compare a 4 cyl Camry to an ES? About the only similarity would be they have the same parent company. Anyone shopping for an ES will not be cross shopping a Camry, maybe an Avalon. Oh, and where did you get the 21MPG combined figure for the 350?

Default mike i

will let you think there from the same company and no comparison
i have had 8 es loaners, think the car is great for the value and money
the 3.5 6 gets a combined 21 to 22 mpg with a 65 35 split of highway and city
if you get more your either babying the car or doing primarily highway
either case the 15 redesign they buttoned up the xle suspension and steering
like i said the only deficiency is the front seat the es is padded much better
did 125 miles today with a 40 highway and 60 city and got a combined 32.5
i am one of the most discriminating consumers out there unless you drive the vehicle reserve your thoughts
safe driving

Congrats on the new car, wish you safe driving. The engine in the ES H is the same one found in the Camry Hyrbrid, but to honest, the Camry is really nothing like the ES. The suspension and dampers on the ES are much better which results more comfort, traction and stability. The steering wheel feel and handling into corners and accelerating out of corners is better. The thick expensive glass that makes the ES so quiet. Real bamboo and wood, better quality leather and sound system. LED lights and xenon lights. I mean the list really goes on. All of those qualities are definitely worth the money.

I owned two camrys, one of them a hybrid. I love my Es, HANDS DOWN, NO comparison! If you want to compare, then compare the 6 cylinder Camry. Whats it get for mileage????? I am averaging 24-26 mixed, and 30-33 highway! Not bad for a 3.5 V-6!

The service at Lexus is bar none, compared to a Toyota experience. Enjoy no free loaners or starbucks, bwaaaa!

In all honestly have fun with the Camry, to each his own, BB!

i should have realized the thread was going to get such attention and rhetoric when all is missing the point about what toyota did with the 15 redesign. i had 8 es loaners i know how they drive and what mpg they get
i got 22 or 23 combined consistently... the car is 40 k
with the sound deadening, changes to the xle suspension the steering work like i said its a baby es
if i bought the car for 23,500 use it for 50k i will sell it for around 17
i didnt want the downside risk of 40k being worth 22 in 3 years, it was a financial decision
i agree the lexus offers much more and is more of a car, my point was the ride and value are uncomparable on the new redesign of the 15.. unless all the comments are all that drive and actually compared and contrasted then it is what is is.. again i agree the es is superior in most facits although in my opinion the new interior layout with the jbl touch screen, nav and ease of use in the new redesign is nicer and simpler than the es, not in quality feel but in layout and functionality...
safe driving to all

I agree with the OP. The lexus is a massaged camry. Is it worth the $$$? That's up to the buyer.

I bought my wife a new 1997 v 6 camry and it was one of the finest cars we have owned. Passed it on to our kids who drove it for years!

We have owned Mercedes, Saabs, Denalis and Cadillacs.

Excellent value and quality for the money.

Toyota is an excellent value for what you get. A mini Lexus? Well, then the Chevy Cruz is a mini Cadillac .

I would agree with you if they used the same chassis, as does the camry/lexus.

What Lexus is the Camry chassis used in? I know the Avalon is what the ES uses.

Mike, a good point. ES is based on Avalon chassis, not Camry chassis.
