Rear Seat Monitor - Anyone?

I saw it on a top-spec ES300h at my dealer, it was an aftermarket job with a third party nav/audio unit. Each monitor had a separate USB connector for flash drives.

Looks great to keep kiddies and others occupied on a road trip. . Just wondering if it's an DIY or needs professional install because of electronical power to the seat.

Well, I'm already paying him over US1,200 for the navigation & back-up camera, so he did me a favor by just charging me an additional 100 bucks only to install the back seat monitors.
Good deal.
Good deal.

Did your base model ES300h come with a Display Audio system and a rotary controller or a grayscale screen with no controller? I'm wondering if your aftermarket navigation replaces the existing display and if it still keeps the hybrid power flow and fuel economy screens. Mine came only with a grayscale screen and I'd like to add the hybrid info screens to my aftermarket setup.

Why?
In the modern age kids all have their own iPads with content already loaded on them so there is no need for a dedicated monitor in the rear seats anymore. BMW has a mounting kit where the kids simply drop in their iPad into a holder and then watch using their existing bluetooth or wired headsets... like this...

1.) I don't live in an area where 3G/4G signals are constantly stable, if the kids are crying out loud in the back when they wanna watch videos/cartoons, DVD playback feature is always handy. And guess what? No signal required.
2.) I'd much rather have my kids watch a 9" screen from a distance & straight ahead over my kids hunching over during a long distance trip.
There you have my reasons.
