I am getting conflicting reports from altering Lexus sales people. Some say that ML is on EVERY Ultra Luxury package while others are saying the the ML itself is an "option". Since that "option" adds a little over 2 grand and my wife doesn't really care about it, can it be left off?

Technically, it is an option, but Lexus typically builds vehicles with defined combinations of packages and options, and, depending on the time of the year, it may be the case that Lexus is only building UL package vehicles with the ML option. Also, which package and option combinations are available can vary from one region to another. I would guess that, if you are willing to wait for a fairly significant amount of time, you would be able to special order an UL ES without the ML option, but, besides the waiting time, it is likely that discounting on special order vehicles will be substantially less than it would be on a vehicle that is in the dealer's inventory.

Thanks for the response. Sounds like it is 'possible' but we may not be saving any costs in that effort so it looks like we should simply go ahead and expect ML to be in any UL-level we may consider. I like the UL but the wife will probably be "just fine" with the normal Luxury level which will also open up the options for this search.
