Default Base audio system

After a year of listening to the base system in my ES I decided to upgrade the front speakers. I choose the Alpine 6x9 and I must say the system is much more enjoyable. The bass is deeper with more punch and the tweeter blends nicely with the other speakers. THE System doesn't have the hollow sound as it did before.

Interesting - what was the cost and how hard was it to do the install?

Cost were: 79.00 For the speakers, 8.00 For the harness and 15.00 For the adapter. I had to trim the circular plastic ring from speaker grill. Everything was plug and play.

Was it easy to access the front speakers? Did you replace the ones in the front door panels?

I am also considering swapping them out with my old Pioneer 6 x 9s.

Can you provide a bit more info on how you accessed the front speakers?

Thanks,
Jay

The door panel wasn't hard to remove. There are screws behind the window switch. To access the screws you have to pry up the entire window switch plate. There is a screw behind the lock and one inside the area you grab to close the door from after you have entered the vehicle. I used a ply tool to pop off the door panel. (Start at the bottom). The parts were ordered from amazon.

OK, sounds pretty straight forward.

Any squeaks or rattles after you put the door panels back? I am just afraid to take things apart for such a well built vehicle.

No rattle. When reconnecting the wire for the light, make sure it's secure.

Sorry I'm very late to this thread, but just picked up a 2013 ES w/nav.
Any chance you still have the parts numbers for the harness and adapter? Looking to DIY for the speakers too and your post is, let's say, inspirational for a rookie like me.

Thanks.
