Service before lease end?
My 20k service will be due shortly before my lease ends. I'm on target to turn in the car with under 21k miles. Am I required to perform that service?

What do the terms of your lease say? Most say you are responsible for scheduled maintenance and upkeep so if you lease is up after 20K then seems you would be responsible for the 20k service. 20K is less than 21K.

Since I don't lease, this is just my opinion. I would just make sure the oil is changed. No need to have the service performed at the dealer, either. What else is usually done at the 20k service? Tire rotation and fluid check?

Not even ONE scheduled service is obligatory especially at the dealer, who charges 5 times more for anything they do, than any other car mechanic. You should for sure change an oil at 20K/miles but you can do it at any place. You don't have to do it at the dealer. You will not lose the warranty. Just change an oil and make sure you don't have any other problems.

He does not have to have any receipt... he can always say that he has done all maintenance checking/oil changes etc on his own. Dealer can not ask for any receipts etc.
As long as the car does not have any damages, dealer can not question about anything.
