Default 2014 ES350 Blind Spot Monitoring System

On a family member's '14 Lexus ES which has the blind spot monitoring system, I noticed that the passenger side mirror BSM light randomly turns on at times even when there isn't a car near or next to it. Is this normal? Seemed odd for it to give a blatantly false warning. Appreciate the advice.

I checked out https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...bsm-error.html which mentioned the bumper's parking sensors may be misaligned, so I wasn't sure if this is the culprit.

I can tell you that when a person walks behind the car the mirror will flash, and when a vehicle is approaching the side of the car it will flash. In 2 years I have not had a false alarm and do depend upon this accessory.
If you are receiving an alarm when there is nothing alongside or in the rear, then something may be amiss.

My BSM indicators seem to be sensitive to a slightly larger area than I would expect. But, so far, there is always something present. Sometimes is is only a wet bush, a little farther away than I would expect, but there is something there.

The dealer can test and adjust the sensors...

Thanks for the very prompt replies! I greatly appreciate it. I will take the car to the Lexus dealer.

I turn off the alarm when I park my car in the garage. The car's monitoring system gets noisy.

To the OP, are you referring to the BSM activating during normal driving or during reversing from park (i.e. Cross Traffic Alert)?

I find that the sensors are oversensitive with the cross traffic alert, which I think is better for safety.

During normal driving. On the highway when no car is to the right of me, on a single lane back road, etc.

Just an update. I went to the Lexus dealer this morning and the technician said they need to order a few parts, which won't be in till next week. Hopefully he knows what needs to be replaced and this gets resolved.

It seems to be an ongoing problem with the sensors. I'm glad they'll replace and adjust them for you.

Just wanted to give an update. I dropped the car off Monday evening and picked it up yesterday. The rep told me a computer and sensors had to be replaced. This was covered under the warranty, but on the papers it mentions part 881620W030 and Right Side BSM ECU. Anyways so far so good. Thanks for all the advice and help.
