What are my options for playing MP3s on the 2015 ES?
Hello,
If I have an Android phone, a USB, an SD, DVD, BR disc all full of MP3s which can I use to with a Lexus ES 300h to play tunes? If none of these are options what are my choices?
Thanks

Get an iPod Classic with 160gb storage, load it up with all your music in Apple Lossless format using iTunes (free) on your PC or Mac, connect it to your USB port in the center console, and play glorious, bit-perfect CD-quality music to your heart's content. The iPod will automatically charge itself so it's always ready, and you can easily control it using your car's native, integrated iPod audio controls. Cars and iPods were MADE for each other!

Go out and get a cheap memory stick to plug into the USB port. (Size will depend on your collection) Make sure all your music is encoded at 256k, or 320k, for the better sound quality. No moving parts to break and you'll forget it's even there.

Thanks! I have an older 128GB USB stick that would be perfect for this and I wouldn't have to worry about leaving it in my car. Is there any way to organize playlists if I use a USB stick? Even just folders would be fine -e .g. classical, general, salsa...

I don't know about your BR disk - it may depend on the options/sound system you choose for the car. With the Mark Levinson it does play BR. But all the others you mentioned are compatible with the car. You can play your music with your android phone via BT, You can play music via USB with any mp3 player. You can play music from a USB drive, You can play music from a SD with a USB holder/connector. And of course you can play CD/DVD etc.

I'm not sure about playlist organization, but I know there are file limitations. I don't know the exact number, but it's probably in the 8k range. I have over 10k songs on my 128G drive, but the car can't see them all, due to this. You may want to just get a few flash drives and change them out depending on what kind of music you want to listen to. Or, just go with an iPod, as was suggested. That will even show album covers, unlike the flash drive.

It's Coffee and I haven't had my monday yet. Just checked, apparently CD/DVD only. I only ever use CDs if at all. Just assumed that nowadays it would be BR too.

Although I own several larger ones, I have found that a 16GB USB is plenty big enough for all my favorite music. I sort it by folders - oldies, classic rock, jazz, easy listening, etc. Then you can play random titles within a selected folder or choose random titles from the entire drive.
