Default Battery maintainer on 300h

How can we safely use a longterm battery maintainer on a 300h? To connect to the 12v terminals, trunk must be open, but trunk light stays on when open, drawing current...I removed light bulb to avoid this, but miss the light when using trunk storage at night...any ideas?

Try putting the Battery Tender unit in the trunk and simply close the trunk lid on the 110v wire.
Should not harm either the cord or the trunk weatherstrip unduly.
