Disappointment in the Mark Levinson

Most, but not all, of the satellite radio stations are so compressed that it doesn't sound good on any system - acceptable but not good. No system can reproduce what they strip out when they compress for broadcast. Pandora on the high bandwidth setting sounds best, but I have a few CDs that I wish sounded better (at least I remember them sounding much better in the sound system I had in my Toyota Camry hybrid)

XM sounds fine in my GS and a jeep too.

Haha. I'm hardly an audiophile, and yes I can tell the difference between XM and other uncompressed sources, but for everyday listening it sounds "fine" to me.

Yup, standard and the Jeep is a pretty good sock Alpine system. Is arts it as similar to the standard System in the GS. I could see how the ML would amplify the issue.
On my 03 it sounded fine on the ML, it that was a separate XM unit played through a wired FM switch box.

I have been too. I was with Sirius originally. I don't really see the difference, but it makes sense. No competition...

Me too and I agree. It seems they no longer have many, if any, of the ground repeat stations XM used to have. I get a lot more loss of signal thru underpasses and when in the urban canyons downtown than I did before the merger.

Even thought I don't have the ML audio package in my 2013 ES350, I was hoping the Lexus standard audio system would sound better than my Honda Accord. The sound just seems unbalanced. Its like 80% of the sounds are coming from the back center speakers even though front/back/left/right settings are at the center. The back speakers seem to mask the sound of the front speakers.
My wife's 2008 GX470 has the ML audio system and the sound is so much better than my ES, especially when a movie is playing.

If you feel like he sound is unbalanced, have Lexus look at it. Of you can always adjust the sound more towards the front

I have found by accident that you can set the balance and high/mid/low settings on each of the tabs in the audio. Press the radio buton on the dash, select the tab you want to listen too, then navigate to sound. I was surprised and happy that each of these can have and store separate settings.
