With only 13k on the clock I wouldn't even bother. Your next oil change isn't until 20k and really, what else needs to be done? You can rotate tires at 20k and have any issues addressed. This is a dealer ploy to make $$$. I'm also at 18 months and even less miles than your car. I have no intention of bringing the car in with no complaints or maintenance to be done. Here is what they do at 15k.

Inspect and adjust all fluid levels
 Replace Smart Key battery
 Reset maintenance reminder light
 Rotate tires
Visually inspect brake pads, calipers and rotors
Check installation of driver’s floor mat
 Road-test vehicle
 Inspect the following:
___Axle shaft boots
___Ball joints and dust covers
___Body
___Brake lines and hoses
___Engine coolant (see page 69)

And it is very unlikely that any of those inspection items are actually going to require any attention beyond being inspected. In all likelihood, the only thing that they are actually going to do is rotate the tires. For many years, I've rotated tires at 10,000-12,000 mile intervals, and I've always gotten excellent tire life. Unless you have some sort of an alignment problem, 10,000 mile intervals should be more than sufficient for tire rotations, and, if there is an alignment issue, it should be simple for you to detect yourself, either based on the way that the car is handling, or by seeing that there is uneven tire wear.

Other than changing the oil, the only meaningful work done on the vehicle is done only at the 36,000, 72,000, and 108,000 mile service intervals. Those are the only times when my ES will be going to a dealer, and, even then, it will be going to a Toyota dealer, who will do the maintenance for about half of what the Lexus dealer charges. Other than that, maintaining receipts, especially for oil changes, should avoid either warranty or re-sale value issues.

Bob- I think that's a good plan. I may just replace the Smart Key battery and bring it in for the 20K service.

My car is alerting me that maintenance is due soon. She only has about 4500 miles on her and I wasn't sure what she needed. They did say the first two maintenance visits were free but now I'm wondering what that includes

The 5000 mile maintenance is almost all things that are to be inspected, and, I'm confident that, in 99.9%+ cases, none of the items inspected will require any further attention. The only thing that is actually done in that 5000 mile maintenance is a tire rotation, and, unless you have hit a horrible pothole and knocked your vehicle out of alignment, 10,000 mile tire rotation intervals are more than sufficient to maximize tire life. Even if you are unsure of whether you might have an alignment issue, a quick inspection to see if you have any uneven tire wear should tell you whether or not you are okay.

Also, at 5000 miles you can have the dealer change any custom settings that you want changed, but that can also be done at 10,000 miles.

A complete list of all of the items that are to be inspected at the 5000 mile maintenance (and all other maintenance intervals) is in the vehicle's supplementary maintenance manual.

Sorry but the 5K service doesn't include cleaning up the interior. That's still on you, unless you get a mile of Saran wrap for the kids.
