I've run into a few instances driving at night when pulling up to a stop, vehicle behind me (usually a truck) will move off to the left just enough for its headlights to reflect and cast a glare right into my eyes from the side mirror (with no escape from this until the light turns green)

The issue is that the sensor used to dim all the mirrors is in the rearview mirror itself which isn't detecting enough light to trigger dimming. Not sure if lowering the rear sunshade would actually help in this case since I pretty much leave mine raised...

Is there a way to manually force the mirrors to dim? All discussions I've searched through have had to do with disabling or turning them off.

Is there any window tint on your rear window?

I have 30% and the shade up and I don't have any problem, Even with cars/truck with high beams on.

Cover the front sensor with a finger. The system is comparing the light level from it and the one you can see on the mirror side and dims in proportion. You can check this out before trying it on the road by covering the front sensor before starting the car. The mirror(s) will dim completely almost instantly! In the situation you are asking about just reach forward and cover it and see what happens. I don't do this but perhaps if you want/need it to stay dimmed longer perhaps a Post-It note stuck over the lens would work for you.
