I agree the new ES is a little awkward looking from some angles, but overall its a good looking car, and any statement of a resemblance between a Honda Odyssey and the ES from the rear is a stretch.

Out of all the Lexus current gen sedans, the rear on the ES looks the best IMO.

I gotta disagree on that. Sedans I would put it at LS, GS, IS, ES. At first I disliked the rear of the GS but its grown on me.

I agree 200% to this. That is exactly right. While trying to achieve that they spoiled the beauty of the car. I would say it would have been much better without copying front grill geometry/shape in the rear side.

Does this mean that you are not getting the ES? What would your other choices be?

i don't agree with this at all. I think the rear end looks just fine, and is much more sleek looking than the rear end on the last gen. To say it spoils the beauty of the car is a very extreme statement.

I mean I could see someone saying that the front end with the gap between the hood and grille ruins the car enough for them not to buy it...but the rear?!? I just don't see it.

It is all about how do you connect to with the style. It is individual taste. For me rear look is so ordinary like any other car. Just to highlight it, if we look at BMW or Mercedes it is so unique that there is no other car having the same look. Of course people copied Merc's tail lamp design in many cars i don't even remember those models. Lexus too had their unique look but it is gone. Sleek and everything else catches my mind after i can satisfy my mind with the over all beauty and look. There is exception where some people still liking it. But that is not mass appeal.

I cannot believe that so much discussion has been made on whether to decide to purchase an ES or not based on the rear tail lights. I looked at the tail lights on my 2013 ES and do not find them offensive or ugly. Lexus is not going to change the tail lights for you, nipukumar. If you don't like them, buy something else and be more productive with your time.
