Default Water spots on windshield

I noticed water spots on my windshield that wouldn't come off with window cleaner. I tried using some Rain X but that wouldn't remove them either. I don't know if this is a Northeast U.S. phenomenon or everywhere. In any case, I tried Meguiar's water spot remover today and it worked perfectly. Requires some pressure to put on and wipe off, but it completely removed the spots. The bottle states that it is safe for paint as well.

You can also use glass cleaning clay, just like paint clay

Thanks for the tip. It's not a NE phenomenon, but rather one common in areas where there is hard water (calcium, etc..) I'm in south Texas. My kids were playing with the hose outside and I didn't that they sprayed the whole side of the car. So the drops just sat there and dried. So I had those impossible-to-remove-without-a-water-spot-remover spots all over the windshield and back windows. They were also evident in the paint, but I was able to wash those off with a bit of pressure. I saw that a bit of distilled white vinegar worked as well on the glass.

Do a search in the Automotive Care & Detailing sub forum. There are a few informative posts on there on how to deal with water spots.

I wonder what the water spots have done to your paint, especially if it's a darker color.
