Default Maintenance Required light

The light came on at 5,000 miles. It's not for an oil change, it's for a tire rotation. Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how to turn off/remove that light? Thanks.

Welcome to CL.

There should be something in the owners manual for resetting that light.

The (very simple) instructions are on page 658 of the manual.

Thanks a lot for the info! I looked and looked and could not find the answer. The fact a Manual has to have 900+ pages (and then 2 more manuals too) says something. I'm new to this forum.

Thanks again for your help.

set the odometer display to ODO, then press and hold the ODO/TRIP button. then while holding the ODO/TRIP button turn the car on but do not start (press the START/STOP button 2 times with your foot OFF the brake) while holding the ODO/TRIP button the DIC display screen should display MAINTENANCE RESET MODE and have a progress bar. continue to hold the ODO/TRIP button until it says MAINTENANCE RESET.

hope this helps

P.S. if it doesn't work try it on TRIP A, or TRIP B, (i think it needs to be in ODO but some models are different)

the 5,000 mile service is free and only takes about 20 minutes to complete (once vehicle is pulled into the shop).
i would recommend getting this completed. getting the tires rotated every 5,000 miles helps keep the tread wear even and helps prolong the life of your tires, and they will reset the light at the dealer for you.

not to mention the dealership will look for anything that may be wrong with your vehicle,(and they know what things commonly go wrong) and while under warranty will fix any/all of those issues at no charge as well (almost never find anything at 5,000 miles).

I find that, if I can't find something quickly using the index at the back of the manual, the easiest way to find where it is in the manual is to start with the beginning of the manual where it has drawings/pictures of all the controls and instrument panel lights and warnings. Once you find something there, it tells you what page to go to in the manual for a description of what you are looking for.

if you have a problem with anything or need help with anything you can always call your dealership and ask them. they should be able to help you with anything. (i've explained this procedure multiple times over the phone)

Wish some engineer would calculate the reduced gas mileage due to the 3+ pounds of manuals

I agree that the size and number of manuals can be a PITA, but I've found when looking up a specific topic/issue in a manual, I often come across other information on the car that is beneficial.

Default Reset Maintenance Required indicator on 2013 ES350 Lexus and later

I have a 2013 ES350. The manual is not correct. It took me a while to figure it out. You turn on the ignition and press the ODO button until it displays Trip A. Do not let go of the ODO button at all. Turn off the ignition. Then press the Start/Stop Ignition button twice with no foot on the brake (do not start the engine). Continue to hold ODO button until you see the Maintenance Resetting indicator.

PDF versions of the manuals can be found at:
http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdriver...nual-search.do

When I entered a search term, it just downloaded the entire manual. So the search function is lame. But, the pdf of the manual can be useful. Just download it and keep it in your Documents folder, and use your favorite pdf reader.
