Was that price out the door (tax, destination charges, etc...)?

I'm seeing fairly loaded UL's in NJ for around $47,800.00. What would be a good price for something in this price range? Need your help guys...

No. Plus tax license etc..
Window Sticker was about $49,700
You should be able to get it for $1500 UNDER invoice right now.

I picked up a fully loaded UL 300h for $1500 under invoice :-)

Didn't you lease, though?

It makes no difference whether leased or conventional financing Mike - the dealer gets funded based on the selling price of the vehicle.

Mikeymike - don't focus on out the door - that will vary based on your location. Focus on the base selling price (including destination and any dealer doc fee). You should be able to get a 2013 for at least 1500 below invoice right now - it looks like some are getting deeper discounts than that in some cases. Some look at it as percent off msrp - 12-15% off msrp is common right now. Now if you are looking for a 2014, that's a different story.

Good luck.

Threads in which people talk about what they supposedly paid for a vehicle are somewhat meaningless because dealers have a long list of ways in which they can take what would appear, at first look, to be a fantastic price and turn it into a large profit deal for the dealership. Some of the ways in which a dealership can pad its profit include lease terms, finance terms, undervaluing trade-ins, and selling customers dealer add-ons, including paint protection, interior protection, extended warranties, service plans, title processing fees and other administrative charges, nitrogen tire fills, etc., all of which are virtually pure profit for the dealership. The only truly meaningful price comparisons are those for vehicle sales in which the customer is buying the vehicle outright with no trade in and in a 100% cash deal. Otherwise, there are so many variables that can make deals seem similar even if they are, in reality, thousands of dollars apart.

It makes a difference when they offer a $2k lease incentive.

I agree-Good points. Plus some areas of the country are more competitive than others so where you buy can make a difference too. Also, a little online BS can creep in to the discussion too.

Not really. The $2k goes towards first payment license fees etc.
The $2k does not come off the price of the car.

BTW I did lease. Fully loaded UL 300h MSRP $51128 for 36 Months 12k miles a year for $518 taxes included.. No money out of pocket because of the lease incentive.
Side note.. I only got a $1250 lease incentive

Mike - edmunds.com is currently showing a $1000 incentive for both leasing and buying. Not sure where the 2000 incentive came from - maybe a loyalty rebate added in. The disadvantage to leasing is the $800 lease initiation fee. On the other hand, if you buy, you have the sales tax on the entire selling price. Some states only charge sales tax on the monthly payment for leases. Whether buying or leasing, it is always wiser to focus on the actual selling price so that it is easier to compare each dealer's quotes.

I guess I didn't understand how the rebate worked on a lease, since I've never leased. It was $2k last month, or August, when I was on Lexus.com and checked. Today it shows no rebates, lease, or purchase in my area.

How would I find out the invoice price of the car? KBB? Edmunds? Thanks for your responses!
