New Lexus Owner
Hello all!
Wanted to do an introduction. I just purchased my first Lexus, and have to say I am very glad I did. I ended up purchasing a new 2013 Lexus ES 350 with the luxury and nav packages. Didn't value the price difference vs. the UL. So far I am loving the car! Mind you it is a huge difference from what I have in my garage currently. My previous daily driver was a 2007 Audi A8L W12. Yes, W not a V. That put out 450hp and 450 tq, and is an amazing machine. Biggest downside was owning, operating, and maintenance cost on the beast. I also have a 2005 Audi A8 with the 4.2L V8 in it. My main reason for going to Lexus was the reliability and comfort of the vehicle. I really don't have any gripes with my new Lexus, even coming from such a huge change of previous cars that I am. My main difference is the Lexus is definitely a more floaty vehicle vs. any of the German offerings that are comparable. Which isn't a negative if that is what you are looking for. I find the ride in my Lexus to be superb, I like the interface, and so far its gas mileage is going pretty nicely as well. Averaging about 25-26mpg, vs the 14-15 I get in my W12.
So far the modifications I have done to the ES are:
1. Hardwired the radar detector cord (9500ix), so it sits just to the right of the rear view mirror.
2. Installed LED's in the doors and trunk. I think I will pass on the interior as I like the warm look in the interior vs. the cold look produced from LED's.
3. Tinted the whole car. Suntek CXP for all windows minus the windshield. Limo or 5% on the rear windows, and 20% on the driver and passenger. I tinted the windshield with Suntek Infinity OP 50% which provides a clear look from the interior but blocks a massive amount of heat/glare due to it being a metallic film.
Future mod I'd like to do is upgrade the fog lights.
I'd like to be a contributing member to the Lexus forums and look to be caught up on everything very soon. I can comment/help on a lot of things as well. The Lexus forums so far seem to be more general talk where on the Audi forums I use are more focused on DIY jobs and more wrenching/retrofitting.
Check out my garage for the new pics I uploaded of the vehicles!

My one and only Audi was an A4....lasted 10 months in my garage before returning to Lexus. It wasn't a performance issue with the Audi, it was a maintenance and reliability issue with me....but I also did not realize how small the A4 was until I lived with it for a few months. I did a similar CXP tint, use sport mod 50% of the time, and smile every time I put two golf bags across the rear of the trunk and had lots of room left over.

I went from back to back ES350's to a 2013 Audi Q5. So far we are really enjoying the Audi. As with all vehicles there are things I miss and things the Audi has/does that we like. I'm not real brand loyal, but would probably return to Lexus in the future.
