Bob- I'm with you on that. I think they would look great, but the install instructions look a little more complicated than my all thumbs can handle. Plug and play would be another story.

I just installed mine last week, took me around 2 hours. Its actually pretty easy if you have some tools for phishing wire. The kit is designed to splice right into the fuse panel so whether you have 2013 or 2014, I would think that it is all the same case for installation.

Does anyone know if the previous gen sill would fit my 2013?

Up until 2012 the sills were provided a hidden harness at the factory. i.e buy the new lighted sills, remove the old (installed at the factory) ones, plug the new ones in and your finished. Not so in 2013. The new generation must be wired in. As shown by previous posts and members. Can't say if pre 2013 sills would fit 2013 and on cars.

I am not really concerned about the wiring I would splice it add an inline fuse and wire it up just like the 2013+ directions say.

I mainly want to know if the dimensions are the same as the last gen, so physically will the last gen sill fit.

Check to see if the part numbers are the same.

More than likely, not. Last gen Camry based ES, vs. New gen Avalon based ES.

When I got my ES, I got a coupon for "my first accessory" for 15% off. So I went with the illuminated door sills. They were $235 - 15% = $200 more or less. HOWEVER...that's was the cost of the parts. It took Lexus three hours of labor to install. That sounds a lot to me, but perhaps others are correct. Either a) they needed to add/modify wiring to my 2014 ES UL/ML/etc., and/or, it is not a simple install.

So $200 + 3hrs labor = Ouch! I wasn't expecting that part BUT...I like the look and they have all the good Lexus warranty and "factory instruction install", yada, yada.

So, in the end, I'm happy. It's only eye candy, but if you can fork it out, it looks great!

There are 15 pages of instructions regarding this installation. So how much did it cost for the install?

Yes, please update us your install cost. I just called and spoke to a service advisor who told me they can't be installed. Then another told me 6 hours. Same dealership.

It was $235 - 15% = $200 for parts and 3hrs labor @ $145 + tax for $700. Like I said, ouch, but I like 'em! I saw the $235 on the website, although some websites show about $300+.

This is a PIO option, so if you can catch a car at the port that is going to your dealer you can get it for $379.
Also keep in mind this $379 will be on window sticker because its PIO and most likely you will get a discount on it when you negotiate your deal.
If you get it at dealership after the car has already arrived then your looking at those high cost. This goes for any PIO option.

Just recently upgraded my 08 GS with illuminated sills for a 13 GS.
I am sadly missing my illuminated sills on my "upgraded" Lexis. Hopefully
some budget money next spring and with warm weather to add the sills.
Really, if you are driving a Lexis you need illuminated sills when you and
guests enter your car!!

Yea, Lexus1998. The Illuminated Door Sills were the one thing I tried to get on my car when I bought it (because it would be cheaper as you said) but the car they had in stock had everything else I wanted and a good deal, so I couldn't turn it down. Otherwise it was six months to order/wait and I didn't want to wait.

On a side note. On my previous 2003 Acura TL-S I had to replace the igniter on the headlights and it was $1500 parts+labor. I joked with the Lexus salesman that getting HID on the ES was only a $500 option for both headlights (PIO, granted). I asked, "Can I buy a second pair now for just $500?" I know it doesn't work that way, but yea, getting PIO accessories, if you can, are much less expensive. My wife didn't want me to get the HID headlights on the ES 'cause she didn't want to foot another $1500 headlight fix 10 years down the road. Which then makes me wonder...every time I pull into my garage with the ES, the auto-headlights turn on...moments later I turn off the car. So the HD headlight mechanism (igniter/ballast) is getting warn out a little more quickly. So I'm sure I'll be replacing something in 10 years...again. So I'm thinking of getting into the habit of turning off the headlights every time I pull into the garage. But that defeats all the "auto stuff" on the ES I paid for. Oh woe is me. LOL! I doubt I'll continue that...we'll see.

Same case here out 54 ES only 1 ultra lux so I had no choice either. Instead it had door edges added at port.
