Default First ES350: Can someone walk me to getting a good deal?

I was at a Lexus Dealership the other day and test drive the Gray ES350 w/ gray interior. I like it and I will most likely end up getting this car.

Can someone walk me through on how I can get a good deal for this?

This is what was on the window:

Dealer Sub-Total: $39,617
Delivery, Processing, and Handling: $895.00
Total: $40,512.

This is What I see on Edmunds for Gray ES350 with Gray interior

Why is there a difference between Edmunds MSRP Price and Dealer's MSRP Price?

Per Edmunds, invoice price is $37,567. Basically, should I go to the dealer and say: "Hey, I'd like to get this car for $37,500. Say I haggle with the price and finally get them to agree to it. (I always here my friends say that they paid invoice but never really knew what it meant)

How much is tax, title, and license fee? I look up california DMV and they have a calculator which says:

Click the image to open in full size.

Is my out of the door price $37,500+$3,344 = $40,844 as best case scenario? Are there any fees that I am missing?

Part II:
Dealear says interest is 2.9% for the ES350. How can I get it down to 1.9%?

Part III:
Are there any perks, maintenance, specials that I should haggle for? I have 1-2 month time frame which I need a car. I'd like to get best possible deal and don't think I'd want to wait just to get the more expensive 2014 model if there isn't going to be much changes.

Add up the columns.

Edmund's is missing a $330.00 option.

Nothing about the price but I don't see Blind Spot Monitoring and Cross Traffic Alert on this car. I wouldn't consider a car that didn't have them - Great Features. I thought all ES's being ordered for stock were including this option. I've forgotten the price but I think about $500.

@txes: I didn't see the option to add the $330 option on Edmunds page since it listed for $0.
@bgaerttner: thanks for PM!
@Dave Mac: that's interesting. I wonder if you have to do many upgrades to get the blind spot features.

There are a lot of features that I don't currently need.
-Heated seats? Not in California.

Seeing the numbers here...assuming 40,512 and 10% off from MSRP, that would make my goal of $36,500 which is about $1000-1500 below invoice.

The next step will be shooting all these dealers an email. I wonder if they would laugh at me if I came out and asked for $36,500.

The other part will be how to work financing into the deal and get Lexus to offer me lowest possible rate. Otherwise, PenFed 1.74% looks attractive.

As far as financing, find your own if you can. My credit union was offering 1.9%. That's what I was planning to use, but the finance guy found me a better deal at a local bank they use (1.5%). Was kind of surprised, in a good way.

Absolutely go through the CostCo Auto Purchase Program; it's well worth joining CostCo if you're not now a member. I started with their number (below invoice) and worked down...that's on the 350; as I remember the CostCo number on the 300h was $600 above invoice. I also agree with getting the Blind Spot Monitor/Cross Traffic Alert option - it works amazingly well!

I also would not get a car of this caliber without "Nav"

Wife got a quote for ES350 through Costco autobuying program, AAA auto buying program, and she called three dealers. Costco was $700 above invoice, AAA was $500 above invoice. She called a local dealer and they eventually sold it for the invoice price, $42000. NAV, blind spot monitor, rain sensing wipers, heated/cooled seats, HID headlights, 18 inch rims, and premium luxury package.

I think he means $42k is invoice. If that was the selling price, dealer made out.

talk to the fleet manager, shop around. tell them place A is giving it to you for this much. Can you beat the price.

If your willing to buy the older year, lots of dealers are trying to get rid of their 2013 for the incoming 2014.
