Very "small" indeed.

Plus, Paul wouldn't smoke a Mall. Pall would though.

Default Octane

I'm under the impression that the new ES350 runs on 87 Octane unlike the previous generation that required at least 91 Octane?... Right or wrong?

Correct, since 2011 87 Octane has been recommended for the ES.

Do you have Wal Mart do your oil changes? It's a lot cheaper there and your car would run the same.

^^Overrated

Example: BP exceeds their spec, but isn't on the list. You have to pay to be included.

Agreed. I see tankers from the same distributor filling the tanks at the various brands of local stations

But I'm sure the tanker distributors put the proprietary additives (techtroline or similar) to the base fuel that goes into branded gasolines. Otherwise it's called false advertising, no?

Yes, I agree that the advertisers hype up the benefits, like anything else.

I learned about toptiergas through the process of owning a piece of crap Audi. They are so finicky about the gas you put in them they actually publish the list in their owner's manual.

I was surprised to find Quick trip on the list. It is right across the stress from our CostCo where I was buying most of my gas. The price is always within a penny of CostCo and I don't have to deal with the line-up at the pumps.

PS: I haven't bought BP since the spill.

I noticed all the attention given to Top Tier brands in the material in our new Audi. IMO it's as much marketing as it is about the differences in the brands of gas.

I'm not brand loyal to any gas. I buy what's convenient, competitively priced from stations that look relatively clean and do a good business. I currently buy a lot of BP mainly because I have a rewards card from them.

Ditto! I liked the old program better, though. You need a 20 gal tank to get the full advantage of the new one. I did like the double rewards they offered on Memorial Day weekend, though. I saved a $1.70/gal.

I saved $1.28/gal on the double rewards last weekend. It's coming up again on the 4th of July weekend. I always fill up when they have double rewards but never come close to the 20 gallon max.
