I mean...Lexus is a luxury car brand but its not a a peerless brand like Apple. I just don't see the similarity.

Arty101 & SW10ES, my 13' ES 350 has the sensor which is linked to the right rear suspension. That means they do have auto leveling HID head lamps.

Do your lights do a cycle when you start the car up?

Do you see them auto level when driving?

Definitely to the younger buyers "toys" get a higher weight when factoring overall value in a vehicle. (we just purchased a 2013 ES350, luxury, HID, blind spot in feb ).
Some like it practical, some like a little bit of luxury. Some like apples and some like oranges. There are plenty of choices for everyone.

Yeah power folding mirrors would be great for any Lexus. They offer power folding for the CT in the other countries except for North America. I think the ES is definitely worthy of them.

They don't do the cycle during start up like my 2010 and I haven't noticed the light beam moving up and down when driving. But when my car was lifted up in the shop last time, I saw a rod linked to the right rear suspension and its other end is connected to the car just like my 2010. I also noticed that those 13' ES without HID do not have this rod/link in the same place. So I think/hope that my 13' ES has anto leveling head light(at least).......since thay have already taken the AFS away!

svastephen, so the HIDs don't do the auto check or bounce at start up, nor adjust on hills. This is an indication they don't have the auto leveling. You may want to confirm this with your service adviser. See Bigblack06 quote above. The auto leveling is not in the 2013 ES. .

Someone load up your trunk and see if the lights move.

Is auto leveling the same as load sensing?

A couple other people have mentioned that the sensor arm is there, which makes sense since the ES in other markets has auto leveling, but if you dont have a level check at startup, there is no auto leveling.

I watched this morning when I started up my GS if they went through the check and they do.

It could make sense that the UL trim of the ES 350 would have the sensor arm there by default even though in the US it isn't actually used or connected to an auto leveling system. They may have pulled it for cost cutting or supply issues, or both.

Nope, had it on my 3GS and I recall the dance it did when you started the car, also you can see this when your driving up and down hills. This car does not have auto-leveling feature. The auto-leveling is the easiest feature to see. Here is the video, look on the right that is what a car with auto-leveling HID should do.
