Angry Transmission/Cruise

I have a 2013 ES 350 with700 miles. I am experiencing a problem with the cruise control when I am driving down a moderate grade the vehicle appears to brake itself to slow down and when I reach the end of the grade the transmission shifts hard like it is trying to find the right gear to maintain speed. Quite annoying. Anyone else experienced this problem ?

Take it back to the dealer and get it checked out. Doesn't sound right.

Angry Experienced the same cruise control problem

I have a 2013 ES350 with 8K miles. My commute is 80miles on rural highways with moderate hills and curves. Your description of the vehicle attempting to brake going down a hill and shifting hard to maintain speed is the exact problem I have experienced. With the speed control set at 67-70 mph, experience significant surges up and down hills. RPM gauge spikes and drops quickly. Drive is very uneven. Taken to dealership twice but they have not found a problem. Has your dealership diagnosed the problem with your car?

I would be interested in know what the dealer says, but on page 247 of the owner manual there's this"
■Situations unsuitable for cruise control
Do not use cruise control in any of the following situations.
Doing so may result in loss of control and could cause an accident resulting in
death or serious injury.
●In heavy traffic
●On roads with sharp bends
●On winding roads
●On slippery roads, such as those covered with rain, ice or snow
●On steep hills
Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill.

●During emergency towing

Thank you for pointing out the owners manual regarding cruise control. I will bring this up with the dealership. However, I purchased the 2013 in January. Before then I had a 2007 Lexus ES350 and traveled the same roads with the same driving patterns. My old Lexus did not perform this way with the cruise on. Has me perplexed.

I was told this is normal behavior and everything was in spec. I did ride with the tech in another ES 350 with the same experience. The tech and I agree this is a programming issue and could be fixed with a software update. He is reporting the issue to Lexus.

I have the same thing with my GS.Of course I was told it was normal too.Never had this on my other Lexus vehicles.
I'm going to my dealer tomorrow for a oil change and I'm going to bring it up again.
It's not really a big deal but just doesn't seem right.
