Default ES350 - Lane Change Assist

What exactly is "Lane change Assist"

Lexus.ca mentions both "Lane change assist" and " Lane departure alert"

BUT

Literature I got from the dealer only mentions Lane Depature alert. Do you guys have this feature in U.S and can someone explain what it is. Lane change assist doesn't come up with anything on google.

Lane Departure Alert alerts you with a series of beeps and a visual warning in the center display if you are beginning to drift out of your lane without the turn signal on. It actually works really well! I have never heard of Lane Change Assist, but there is a Lexus Feature called Lane KEEP Assist (LKA), which will actually steer the car back into the correct lane) if you start so drift out of your lane. LKA is not available on the 2013 ES300h/ES 350 but is available on the GS and LS models.

If you look at this link you will see it under "technology package"

http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience...ategory=option

Now my other question is.

If the print out attached to the vehicle in the showroom also shows this feature and so does the website. When the vehicle arrives it doesn't have it. Can I reject accepting it? Even though I have signed the lease agreement? Just a thought.

All I really want to know is if I have some legal rights in this case.

This feature looks to be available in Canada, but not here in the US. I'd check with your dealer to be sure it has it, or cancel your lease if it doesn't.

Arty101, which feature are you referring to?

1310pilot, that may be a question to ask the company you are leasing from. Why do you feel the car will not have that package?

I bought the Technology package BUT as you guys I'm skeptical if this particular feature actually exists. Nobody know what it does and google has no information on it. U.S models don't have it. Dealer knows less than me, so that's no help.

Only car that has something close to it is LS and I doubt entry level will steer itself to stay in lane.

Now if it indeed has it... that's FREAKING COOL.

Yeah this "lane change assist" is different from LKA or LDW, note that the website lists Lane Departure Warning as a feature later down the list.

Did the dealer provide you with a printout of the equipment you ordered?

You have no lease until the car comes in, so you can absolutely cancel for any reason, assuming the law is the same in Canada as it is in the US.

My 2010 HS250h had Lane Keep Assist and it nudged the wheel when you were about to go over or had gone over the line, that car had the technology package, here in the USA. My 2013 ES300h UL fully loaded has Lane Departure Alert and I have not felt it nudge the wheel when approaching a line, I just hear the warning tone and see the display flash.

Right, the ES does not have LKA. So you get the beep, but no nudge.

I'm in Ontario and I have the 300h with the technology package. It definitely has LDA which I have tried and found to work well. I will check my owner's manual to see if it says anything about Lane Change Assist and report back on whether it is in my vehicle.

i've seen some MY 2013 ES hybrid in Ontario with this option. Of note in cars that can have night vision, they can only have LKA or night vision as there is only one spot for the camera's (or something like that).

Yes is new on 2016 es models its come only with the LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM+ package and its call Lane Departure Alert16* with Steering Assist*
I have it on my 2016 ES300H the button is on the wheel you can have it on or off
on it the wheel will vibrate then beep and steer back into the lane if you start to cross it, if you use the turn signal it wont do anything.
it will tell you to put you hands back on the wheel(I let it drive itself a little bit)and to take a break and show a cup off coffee, this would and could save your life if you were sleepy from driving on a long trip, in my opinion it needs to do more and actually keep the car going straight in the lane, once this starts to work it tends to send the car the opposite way to much to were it wont keep in it the lane, again I was trying to let it drive itself and should not have I know I was wrong, it should be use only as intended and you should nevr take your hands off the wheel

pgiinc summed it up nicely. The pre 2016 ES had Lane Detect Alert which notifies but doesn't take over.
2016 ES's (and HS's with Tech as mentioned) have Lane Departure with Steering Assist which torques the wheel back and provides the "virtual bump strips" wheel shake. The real story is the value, the whole "GR" Safety System is $1015. Putting the various ala carte options together, "PS" Pre Collision with Dynamic Cruise plus "LK" Lane Departure with Intelligent High Beam was $3000 and didn't have Pedestrian Detect!

BTW Lane Change Assist is a line item under Blind Spot Monitor as it warns before changing lanes...
