Ambient Lighting...am I missing something?
The ambient lighting on my dashboard goes from the wood trim right of the steering wheel to the passenger door. But, there is no light from the left of the steering wheel to the driver's door. Is this by design or am I missing something?

A320pilot: I'll try to post some pics. My friend took some pictures of my car yesterday and I'm waiting for him to send them to me...not sure if he got a good pic of the interior.

Kenny, I just checked it out and there is no ambient light on the dashboard on the left side of the steering wheel. I assume the foot area lights in the front are also part of the ambient package.

Well, I guess it's by design. But I don't understand why they would leave that area out...doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe they'll add it in on later models. However, it would be a nice DIY if someone figures out how to do it.

@A320pilot, i tried taking pics, but the glow it gives off was hard to photograph. the best way to "see" it is in the youtube video by lexus:
and according to this thread,
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...-lighting.html
it can't be added afterwards

I just got my ES 300h UL package, and the ambient lighting is pretty weak. I can barely see it over the glovebox. It's most prominent over the middle console because the top is metal and it reflects the light. Definitely disappointed the ambient lighting isn't cooler on this car.
In addition, if you go into the DISP button the steering wheel, there is an ambient lighting control. I thought it was off, but it showed on. But when I turned it off, nothing changed at all in the car.
What are people's experiences with the DISP button and this feature?

I disagree and really like how subtle the ambient lighting is on the ES. It automatically matches the level and intensity of the control lighting and doesn't look like it sticks out or is distracting. Check out the light it casts on the door panels, and how it highlights part of the contour on the door.
The control you accessed through the DISP menu changes the ambient lighting on the instrument panel only
Other manufacturers basically just slap on this feature without bothering to make sure it looks like it is a cohesive part of the rest of the vehicle (too bright and different color than the rest of the interior lighting) My criticism on the ES is that it is not in more places (cup holders, map pockets, shifter/remote touch area)
