Dealer wouldn't put 18' wheels on 2013 ES 300h
Bought a new 2013 Lexus 300h today and was kinda bummed out that the dealer would not put 18' chrome wheels on this vehicle. His service rep stated that switching the original 17' with 18' wheels will increase the rolling resistance and affect the fuel efficiency. I did some research and found that doing this would increase rolling resistance by 20% or an average 4% reduction in mpg. The car would go from 40 mpg to about 38 mpg. Has anyone with a 2013 ES 300h switched to an aftermarket 18' wheel? Did it affect the digital tire pressure readout on the dashboard? Thanks.

I just checked the Sewell Parts website where they have the weight of both wheels listed. The OEM 17" hybrid wheel is 27.2 lbs., the 18" wheel is 29.0 lbs. The tires will also weigh more, but my unscientific guess is if you mount Michelin Primacy tires with the same tire pressure on both size wheels, roll resistance increase would not be close to 20% with the 18" size resulting in a 4% decrease in mpg.
Maybe some of the members with ULs and 18" wheels can compare their fuel economy with members with ES350s with OEM 17" wheels.

BTW, I've already picked out 19" wheels to put on the '13.

19 inch on 2013 300H
Yes, there will be a reduction in mpg. I currently own a '11 ES350 (patiently waiting for my special order '13 ES300h) and installed aftermarket 18" /235 chrome wheels on it. My mpg decreased a little; about 2-4 mpg. The car looks better with the 18s put you'll lose mpg. I plan on leaving the stock wheels on it. But I've always installed bigger wheels and tires on all my new vehicles. So I it will be a tremendous self-discipline for me not to put aftermarket wheel on the '13.

I am also thinking of putting 19 inch on my new 2013 ES300H, I am thinking of the CEC C882, what about you? But I am very torn as this is my 1st Hybrid and like you I am trying hard to control myself not to buy after-market rims for this, I want to keep MPG up as I drive lots, but I want to look HOT!

I don't mind the reduction in fuel efficiency, my concern is will after market rims (18" or 19") affect the vehicles ability to read the tire pressure that is displayed on the dashboard?

I would recommend this as well. I have a local tire shop that swap mine out. However, you may have to take the car to the dealership to get rid of the TPMS light (if you get one). They'll have to re-program the sensors back in.

18 inch wheels on ES300h
I put 18 inch Lumarai wheels and the same model Michelin Primacy mxv4 tires on my 2013 ES 300h.
The dealer wanted over $5000 for the ES 350 18 in wheels with tires (I would keep the originals)
The Lumarai's are manufactured for Lexus and no need for a hub-centric ring so they have the same bolt pattern and use the same flat seat wheel nuts, and tire pressure monitor installation site. There is no problem with the tire pressure monitor on the dash and by my estimate, there may be a 2-3 mpg loss in efficiency. I have not had the dealership doing any calibration for the difference in wheel size regarding speedometer. I know there is an adjustment I can do on the Nav system but have not done that either.
I love the look of the new wheel (Kya model) versus the bland stock ones.
Final cost for 4 wheels, tires and installation under $1700 (and still able to keep the original wheels and tires)

It's better to choose your own wheels on your own - you'd pay extra to have one set of wheels, when for the same or less you can choose your own second set of wheels and tires. Then you can sell the original set if you want to.
