New Model Problems?
A new model (full redesign) often brings new problems that are worked out in subsequent years. Some people wait for the second year to avoid these issues. Is anything emerging from among those who are early adopters of the 2013 ES?

So far I haven't heard of any particular problems. The drivetrains of the ES350 and 300h have been proven and refined on previous models (2007-2012 ES350 and Camry Hybrid) so these major components aren't brand new.

The drivetrain (gas+hybrid) for the es300h is based on the 2010 Camry hybrid. In 2009, the gas engine in the Camry hybrid was 2.4L. In 2010, it was increased to 2.5

This is a legit question, but doesn't really apply to Lexus or Toyota. Historically, these two brands have never suffered first model year problems. Leave the worry at the doorstep and go for it. Just be prepared to pay higher pricing when a car is fresh and new.

Eh...I dunno. If you look back on the posts in 2006 with the new GS, 2007 with the new ES and LS, there were certainly first year model issues that were pretty un-Lexus like.
That said, the new GS has been out for 8 months or so now and there haven't been any serious issues...

I have a 2013 ES with 1,000 miles. I had a 2010 ES previously. I do notice a difference with the transmission between the 2010 and 2013. On my new ES, the transmission downshifts between 35 and 40 miles per hour when I let my foot off the gas. It feels like I've just tapped the brakes. I find this irritating rather than allowing the car to coast as with the transmission in my 2010. I took my car back to the dealer to complain and was told the car was operating within normal tolerances. Has anyone else notice this problem? My car does it every time between 35 and 40 miles per hour.

I only have 300 miles on my 2013 ES 350 and getting 23.2 miles on everyday driving. So it may be to soon to experience any problems associated with a new model, but I am going out on the limb and say I have a good feeling about the car. This is only my second Lexus "2005 LS" I feel that even if there is a problem they will be quick to make it right.

That was an ES350 issue. Not just our car.
