I have test driven the ES350, Cadillac XTS, Audi A7 and Hyundai Equus. I liked the Equus but it was rear wheel drive and I live in the northeast and would like either front wheel or all wheel drive.
I really liked the A7 but it had issues when I looked up the quality issues it did not do well. Now the ATS I liked the car and had myself talked into it before I even got in the car, but the seats were the deal breaker, they were so uncomfortable and my wife did not like the thigh support was cheap looking. That's my 2 cents worth.

Heck if you can swing an A7 all the one I've seen where $70k+ for Premium plus. Why not shop for a CLS5500 or the LS460L? Now those or both great machine and roomy inside. One is a Turbo Charge V8 and 440/380 horse power and hey they are beautiful to look at. My baby sister has a CLS550 that I borrow from time to time :-) and that car rides so sweet. I don't think I'd even be comparing a ES350 to these cars A7, BMW 7, CLS550 or LS460 they are the top of their lines.. Now the ATS is small even smaller than a ES but price about the same. I finally saw one at a dealership in Ontario Ca. I'd say its more like a BMW3, IS 250 or A4 in size and price. But it was very pretty in a sliver with a beautiful burgundy interior or red but darker. It was to small for me however and I can see how the seat might not be supportive enough for some one.

The reason for the disparity in cost when I x-shopped was I am thinking of an ES for my Hyundai Sonata and trading my 05 LS for an RX, or getting the A7 or LS and keeping the 05. I hope this makes sense because right now my head hurts.

Abbott: Goofè Dean. Well, let's see, we have on the bags, Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know is on third...
Costello: That's what I want to find out.
Abbott: I say Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know's on third.
Costello: Are you the manager?
Abbott: Yes.
Costello: You gonna be the coach too?
Abbott: Yes.
Costello: And you don't know the fellows' names?
Abbott: Well I should.
Costello: Well then who's on first?
Abbott: Yes.
Costello: I mean the fellow's name.
Abbott: Who.
Costello: The guy on first.
Abbott: Who.
Costello: The first baseman.
Abbott: Who.
Costello: The guy playing...
Abbott: Who is on first!
Costello: I'm asking YOU who's on first.
Abbott: That's the man's name.
Costello: That's who's name?
Abbott: Yes.
Costello: Well go ahead and tell me.
Abbott: That's it.
Costello: That's who?

Pulled the trigger on the ES350 Black on Black and will pick up on Wed. So I will be keeping the 05 LS. I have enjoyed the conversation on this subject. Thank You

Cool! I'm very interested in your thoughts about the new ES350 vs your 05 LS.

Finally made up my mind "her mind"and WE got the XTS which was the right choice for us.
Wife just didn't want the ES we had an Avalon and she said the new ES styling change didn't impress her. So after two test drive and riding by Caddy dealer I knew what she wonted.
Got a great deal on a fully load luxury package DWA + Nav and moon roof @$50k.

Sure is a nice looking car. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. How do you like the CUE system? I saw a demo of it online and it looks quite impressive. Definitely a step above what Lexus is offering in the ES. I'd love the thought of completely changing the display on my dashboard.
