My car is a hybrid model ES300h and yours is the regular gas model E350. So yes, the dealer would sell the regular e350 below invoice price and they hold firm on not getting lower than the invoice on the hybrid model

Nope! I have the ES 300h - Luxury package - a few extra things on it - exact MSRP was $46, 262 - purchased it for a straight cash deal of $42,500.

Picked up a 2013 ES300H last month. Matador Red, Black Leather, Blind spot monitor,17" wheels, HID headlamps, Power rear sunshade, Luxury Package (includes leather), Navigation, Parking assist, Rain sensing wiper/deicer, Bamboo and leather shift ****/steering wheel
MSRP $46162, paid at Invoice $43705 + TTL. No trade in.

To be honest, I never asked about invoice (although I had some idea) - I had heard that mark-ups were anywhere from 6%-8% - I was getting more than 8% off - that was good enough for me.

I also bought a 2012 LS460 from the same dealer last august after getting quotes and offer from 3 different dealers. And the dealer invoices are within $100.00 or so with each other. So I had no reason to think the dealer played around with the invoice price. I also talked with the biggest dealer in southern cal and he told me that the best he could do was $100.00 over invoice. To make long story short, you got a great deal then

Johnnie, don't know where in California you're located but we are on the Central Coast - I called or wrote to about 10 dealers between San Francisco and Los Angeles (4 hours north for me and 2 1/2 hours south) the quotes were all over the place - including one from Longo (supposedly the biggest Lexus dealer in California) and they were only $1,000 below MSRP. Two dealers quoted me the price of $42,500 but they weren't too close to us and they did not have the cars in stock (I tought they might be playing games) - the dealer closest to me matched that price and told me they could get the car within a few days - they did! On top of that, they made my buying expereince the best I have ever had.
I was able to buy the 2012 LS460 for $8,000.00 under invoice - new 2013 model is coming- from the same dealer. So repeat - you got a great deal

If dealers are selling you cars $1,000 below factory invoice, they aren't telling you the actual factory invoice. Lexus has dealer holdback of 2% of the base MSRP, so the base MSRP of an ES300h is like $39k, 2% of that is $780. So at $780 below invoice, they are making no money, but loosing no money, barring there being some sort of factory to dealer incentive. If a dealer offered to sell you an ES350 for $1,000 below actual invoice, then they are loosing $220 on the deal, because there are no incentives on the car.
The LS may be another story because of incentives, but even the LS I think $8k under invoice is highly suspect.

The dealer may or may not loose money on the deal but they could not afford to keep the car too long on their lot. My LS460 was on their lot since 3/2012.

Agreed! Which is why never asked to see the invoice. I just came armed with percentages and knew if I could get close to 8% discount then I would be satisfied - hell, I would have been satisfied at 6%!

A local dealer (South Florida) is currently offering their ES 300hs for about $500 over dealer invoice. I guess supply has caught up with demand. Or we are luck here in South Florida.
