Don't think so. The new Camry V6 uses exactly the same engine as the last Camry with no change at all.I doubt that too, since the ES is not sport-oriented, unlike the CT, and should not need to be tuned differently from the Camry or be given a Sport mode.I hope so, but chances are they won't use more aluminum on the ES since the base ES needs to remain affordable as it is so positioned. The ES will still be a much heavier car than the Camry like it has always been.

FYI the base ES now starts at $36,725 dollars. Yes the ES now starts at over $37,000 with the destination fee. An Acura TL starts at $35, 605 and a Buick LaCrosse at $30,170.

The ES continues to sell like hotcakes even as the price has risen and is more than some competitors and the internet fanboi much cheaper LaCrosse has appeared. In other words Lexus will be fine with the ES.

Lexus continues to use more aluminum to try to help with weight because it helps with fuel efficiency.

I remember when the ES was cheap, but then again, I remember when Cadillac's were expensive uber luxo cars and the most expensive mercedes was around 40 grand. LOL.

Yes, that wouldn't be a bad idea. It would give more job to the U.S. folks and it would help the economy because those ES models made here will also be sold here. Helps the economy in two ways.

Most likely though the ES would be built in Canada if Lexus so decides.

Can't wait to see the 6ES...I'm thinking:

When I had this conversation with some people they literally laughed out loud that anyone would think the ES is going to be built here. It would require a completely new supply chain, plant, workers etc etc and of course we would have heard about it by now.

What was stated is if production was ever moved to America, it would be with an all new model. Like the 7ES or a new Lexus.

So for now there is no way production is being moved here.

No way the next ES is gonna get the old 2.4L when the Camry has moved on to the 2.5L.

I'm sure the next gen ES will be nice but my guess is that it will be on the conservative side. When you think of previous generations of ES and consider the buyer demographics there is no need for a huge wow factor.

So, I hear today that the next gen Avalon will have a hybrid feature and make 30/38 MPG. With the ES getting bigger and now offering a hybrid option, I think the ES will now be Avalon based. Built in US as well.

Anyone agree?

The Camry Hybrid XLE gets 40/38mpg so I highly doubt the Avalon Hybrid is getting only 30/38mpg. Maybe you meant 40/38mpg?

You're seeing the Camry Hybrid LE. The XLE gets 40/38 due to its larger wheel size.
