Default Squeaky brakes while in reverse

2007 Lexus ES350 has screeching/squeaking brakes when the car is in reverse. Is this a simple fix or a costly brake repair job?

Probably the emergency brake. Is it only on the rear wheels? Should be a simple adjustment.

Are your pads worn?

Yep, most likely worn pads. Dust can cause squeaking but you'd hear it in forward also.

Worn pads get settled in and when you back up, you go against the grain. sort of speak; there is less drag and more stutter that manifests as squeal. To minimize the noise, don't ride the brakes when in reverse. Also, pressing more firmly on the brakes should stop most squeaking.

Do check the wear level of the brakes and change them out accordingly.

Mine 2008 Lexus ES 350's 140,000 miles rear brakes sequel too when in reverse, especially if cold or after rain, for a few years now. I believe they are the original brakes.
I pulled on the the pads off and they are not worn down, but dont know enough to judge if they are glazed or damaged.
I plan on replacing them soon. Considering MaxBrakes.com slotted/drilled bake/rotor kit for only $140 front & rear!
