Default Extended Warranty

Need some advice...

I have about 42K miles on my 2012 ES350. My commute is roughly 50 miles roundtrip. On my last service at the Lexus dealership/service center the agent offered me an extended warranty till 120K miles. He is offering to me at around $2400.

Nothing is wrong with my car, it all runs in excellent condition as a Lexus should. Would anyone recommend I get the extended warranty?

Appreciate the input...

I like the peace of mind of having a Lexus Platinum Extended warranty.
I just bought a discounted one out of state from Toby Rivers yesterday.
Discounted and no sales tax if you don't live in Louisiana.Quick and easy transaction.

I would take that right now. You're covered for the next 80000 miles.

Bought our 2007 with 80,000 in November and just made my first payment and this is what we have had done so far under the extended warranty:

New CD player $800, new wheel bearing $500, 'upper oil pan' seal replacement $2600 = $3,900. Cost of warranty $1900. Just doubled my money too bad I can’t say the same for the 401k…

I think there is an issue with the tranny but I will reserve judgment until I can consistently replicate it.

Wow! that's a lot of repairs before your first payment. Good thing for the extended warranty, but let's hope the car proves more reliable from here on out.

I heard THAT!

I forgot to mention the passenger side CV Boot was leaking as well but that seems somewhat common.

How many years and additional mileage coverage did you get for $1900?

I forget the years off the top of my head but it is good for 120,000, So I bought 40,000 miles of coverage.

It may be only two years but that I think is the ding shield coverage they sold me for $250. Already used it too as there was a credit card sized shallow crease on the door panel that only showed up at night when the light form the mirror shown on it.

Interesting. I tried buying one from a dealer who discounts them in KS last summer. He said he could no longer sell them to out of state purchasers as per new Toyota/Lexus rules. I would have to come to his store to complete the purchase.

I found my warranty. two years 24,000 miles, $1900. Have had about $3,900 repairs done and 22 months to go. Crossing fingers...

Just found the paperwork on the Lexus Platinum Extended warranty I bought back in 10/11 for our new 2011. Plan code J67 6 years / 75,000 miles for $735. $0 deductible. Had to have warranty work done this past week. At 20,000 miles, needed an oxygen sensor replacement plus another part. Was covered under the new car warranty still but I wanted to have the extneded just in case. They also hand washed the car too versus just running through their automatic wash.
