Default AC on ? even with heat on Nav screen

Ok so on the es350's with the Navigation screen atleast for the 07 model year.
Not sure about others.

How come when i look at the Climate control Screen even when the heat is on at 80 degrees and its 10 degree outside the screen still says AC and not heat ? i am talking about the top left corner of the screen

thanks

also the touch button on the the screen that says AC if i want heat on it that supposed to be touched to light up or not ?

thank you

I always used it lit up. I believe its the ac/heater button but it only says AC as most of the newer cars do.

The A/C condenser comes on with the heat if the humidity is high enough. The condenser removes moisture from the ambient air. This works the same with your air conditioning at home or in the office. It dehumidifies the air. But in your car the compressor does not come on. So you are not cooling the air, just dehumidifying it.
