Default Rear View mirror doesnt seem to be dimming

Hello all. My rear view mirror on 2011 ES350 doesnt seem to be dimming correctly, this morning a car behind me had his high beams on and the mirror didnt seem to adjust. It is set to auto. Before I make an appt does anyone have any insight? Doesnt seem that sensitive.

Was it dark outside? The Autodim only works if it's dark. Test your mirror by first covering the sensor at the rear of the mirror, and then shining a flashlight at the front (mirror). It should react really quickly.

I recently bought a replacement mirror in anticipation of modding it to install a dashcam. So I have recent experience testing the mirror.

It was pitch black outside, just tried what you said and it dims. Wondering if the window tint has something to do with it? I should have said that on original post

Have you got a placard such as "handicap parking" hanging behind your mirror? This might be blocking the sensor. I've got one of those but it's narrow enough it doesn't affect the sensor.

Window tint will negatively impact the auto dimming feature. Mine is notably less sensitive to lights behind given even a modest 35% tint. I wish there was a way to tweak it, but it is what it is - the mirror is expecting the back glass to not be tinted.

My rearview mirror dims as it is supposed to, but sometimes it is not enough to offset really bright lights behind. When that occurs I just raise the rear window sunscreen to reduce the glare further.

I can't seem to adjust my rear view mirrors manually with my hand (2010). It's lose when I try to move it, but doesn't move. Broken? Is there a button or something?
