the GPS and verbal commands on most Lexus vehicles suck, what turn by turn Driving directions app do you use for the Iphone5? People have said they use their cell phone and listen through the hands free Bluetooth. Feedback please!!

Everyone also agrees that "outside temperature" gage is drunk, but I still use the navigation in the car. I do pull over to type the address...

The maps app on the iPhone 5 gives turn by turn, so does google maps. I upgraded my stereo to a alpine head unit with NAV and still find my self using my iPhone sometimes.

So you like the Map apple app and then you can simply look at the Nav Screen for
visual info?

Not with the model I have, I just use Bluetooth or the USB and listen to the info from my phone on occasion. There are head units that will allow you to watch your gps app on the screen.

Confused... Wouldn't the Nav Screen show your location and be ... In a way... synched
to the turn by turn verbal directions! Please extrapolate.

Maybe I'm confused??? What are you trying to accomplish? Do u want your app gps app to show up on your factory NAV screen? Or are you wanting to listen to your turn by turn off your phone thru your speakers???

All I was saying is that I have a NAV screen and on occasion I use my phone turn by turn thru my speakers because it's easier when trying to find some destinations. When I use my phone there is no visual on the screen just sound thru the speakers.

What can I say... This is my problem: a lot of the time, my Lexus Nav directions either take
me a route that I don't want to travel on OR are just plain wrong.

If I get the directions from Mapquest online I can often have the option of taking one
expressway or a different one. What I do now most of the time is write the directions down
... Pretty lame I know.

I thought if I used the Apple Maps on my Iphone I could preview the route ahead of time and hear it through the Bluetooth feature all the while being able to check my location from the Map
view on my Nav.

NOW THAT I HAVE TOTALLY CONFUSED YOU...

Unless you're just resigned to mounting your phone and using it, if you are still under warranty you should take your car in and have them check the nav to see if it's working properly. While there the technical person can help address your issues, and make sure your settings are correct for your needs. The nav can serve up three different routes, like Mapquest etc.

It seems that most owners aren't too keen on the voice recognition, but the performance of the nav/directions etc. are fine.

PS, while at the dealership they can demo eDestination and Destination Assist for you to see if they are right for you.
