"The only change in store for the 2011 Lexus ES 350 is the V6 engine's new calibration for regular octane gas."

Whatever this means... Source: http://www.edmunds.com/lexus/es-350/2011/

Edmunds or who ever it was the wrote that revue have no idea what the reason is bu they had to wright something so they realized the sticker on the fuel door changed so they through in some fancy words for it.
But they didn't change calibrations the only thing that would do in my mind is
increas the knock sensor chances of how it works.
and i notice nothing.
and from what i have heard others say they knowtice nothing either.

ONly cars i have ever had where a difference between year and engine being changed for fuel is
my cadillacs the 99 sts and the 2000 sts
they changed in 2000 to roller calms which allowed regular fuel to be used.

Unless i hear something about how Lexus did this or changed something major to their engine then it's B.S
did the hp change between years ? did the torge change between years ? for the ES i don't think so
same gearing also

That's right. Assuming you use Premium. You said you use regular, so your produced HP is 268 at most. When they say engine was tuned for regular 87, they most likely mean no physical change to the engine itself but remapping fuel injection because lower octane fuel burns faster. Not engineer, but I heard using regular when recommend is premium - not good.

This is hard for me to buy
i don't believe and unless someone comes in with perfect clear charts of how it is i don't get it and don't buy that fact that using 87 is causing me to loose 4 HP

i think this is turning into and only has one road to go down what we sometime call OIL wars on who has the best oil who believes all the crap about how Synthetic once you go one way you can't go back to dyno and all that stuff just in a different topic on fuel.

In this case, lets walk away from the subject, it isn't directly relevant to this thread anyway. Happy Fourth!

My range gauge usually indicates around 445 miles at fill up.

I have a 100+ mile commute each day at about 90% freeway per tank.

Top it off when you're at 50% and see how many galons it takes. If it isn't nearly half a tank then you can blame a sensor.
