Depreciation and sale rice
I am wondering and hoing this question is not to far out of order to ask
and that no one slams me for it
but if a 2013 es300h today would cost me say 34k to pick up certified preowned
any idea what it might cost in 2 years from now if lexus values don't change more often than they have the past few years ?
like would it be unrelistic to think in 2 years from now one could be had for 28k ? or do you think im looking for to much of a value drop ?
so far 5 times i have been in a 2013-2014 es300h and i love the thing but i just can't justify spending 34k on a car right now when i have only had mine for 16 months
id feel i need to at-least wait till i have had it for 3 years before i can go trading it in and justify the money
and that no one slams me for it

Mine is an 2007 ES350 84k on it in like another 200 miles.
i plan on keeping it another 2 1/2 years so i will probably have about just under 175k on it by than
im hoping that i might be able to at-least get 7 or 8000 for it on trade in or private sale
if i can get that much for mine in 2 years from now than
i can put that down and get the 2013 i want and have the payments about the same as they are right now
but the main thing im looking at is not what my current car will be worth then
but what it would possibly cost me to buy the 2013 at that point
just not sure if its realistic for me to think and hope for a 6k price depreciation between now and then for the 2013

Hybrids will hold their value much better over time. Not to say Lexus doesn't hold their values well, but the hybrid aspect helps more.
From what I noticed the 5ES is probably the worst of all for resale. I can pickup a 16k mi. 2011 locally for ~23k CAD, fully loaded. These cars didn't do as good as the rest of the lineup, or historical Lexus prices.
While a 2011 CT200h will fetch 27k, base model and be sold within a day or two.
Hopefully the 6ES will be better.
