Default Toyota part number lookup

I've been doing some searching including checking out elexusparts and sewell lexus websites trying to figure this out. But so far haven't found a great solution. I've searched the forum and looked at the FAQ's but so far have come up empty with the answer.

I've got a local Toyota dealership where I can get Toyota parts at 25% off list price. I spoke to the parts manager about being able to get parts for my Lexus through him for things that I'm sure are common across the Toyota and Lexus line. I'm thinking of things like brake pads, rotors, filters, radiator caps, fuel caps, etc. He said that as a Toyota-only dealership he is not allowed to have a copy of the Lexus parts catalogs and therefore cannot look up the part numbers to be able to figure out what part I would need. He did state if I can figure out the part number on my own then he can sell it/order it for me though.

Is there a relatively easy method for determining the full part number for items I need in a way that my preferred Toyota dealer can sell me those parts so I don't have to pay inflated prices at my Lexus dealer?

David, that's very generous of you to offer your time so I can take the part number to someone else.

I recently found a new source (to me) for parts. I used to use mostly Rockauto and Amazon. The new one that I like - both for OEM parts and really good prices is parts.com. I've been buying from them for about 5 months now and they're fast and seem to have the best price. Their site showed the wrong belt for my Infiniti and after I got it and found it was a different part number than the one on my car (there are two choices), they shipped out the right one the same day and included a return tag for the wrong one. I couldn't ask for better service.
