Turbocharge an engine
Hi,
I'd like to add some more power to my Lexus, and now I am searching for information on the topic. Have anybody tried it? I am interested the most about any experience with ES 350 model.
There is a question I came across. I heard that the best efficiency of the turbocharging is for 4 cyllinder cars. Just found it again surfing the internet here
http://www.carpartkings.com/blog/201...ed-engine.html They say the power can be doubled after attaching a turbocharger.
But my car is 6 cyllinder. What do you think, will the result be the same? The principle of multi-core processors is that 2 core gives double speed in comparison with 1 core, but 4 core processor is almost the same. I doubt if the analogy is right, but I want to know for sure that I can feel considerable power raise after the tuning.

ES is not exactly a tuner car. It comes stock with 270ish HP on FWD... Not sure what you are looking for, but there aren't many FWD cars with over 300HP. With a bolt-on mods and no boost you can get close to 300 HP with ES and at that rate the handling, braking, etc will still suck. As an alternative approach, I would get an IS300 and tune it. Here is a good article that talks about FWD vs HP:

tottaly different car here that im talking about but im sure it can be done if you have the cash but the amount it will cost you to do it you might as well get yourself a GS if you want something bigger than the IS and power
there is someone who has put like 30k into his 1999 cadillac seville sts just to get a turbo charger custom made i think it was a turbo charger he did
and all the modifications he has put in over 30k easy
so if this Mark could do it to a cadillac seville that is a fwd im sure you can have it done to the ES just costs money
google marks 99 sts
