Buying an 07 or 09 question
First of all I researched and I'm hooked on the ES. Very smart car to get!!!
Thank you to everyone in this awesome community (forum), I read up a lot into this car from here. Lots of great info!!!
So do I get the 2007 Ultra or spend the extra 5k (ouch!) for an equivalent 2009 Ultra (according to KBB) ???
Im a DYI and dont mind home repairs, but cold start noise, transmission woes, voice control problems? Did they fix these by the 09 model?
Thanks in advance! Keep up this great site!

All things being equal, a 2009 is better than a 2007. I can't speak to whether or not the newer car is worth the added $5k to you.
As for me, my 2007 has been an exemplary car. I'm somewhere around 140k miles and the car has been the most trouble-free vehicle I've ever owned. Make sure you can start the car cold and drive it looking for the dreaded transmission slip. What you experience is what you should expect for the life of the car. Also check to see that the water pump doesn't have an inordinate amount of dried coolant at the pulley (some is okay, they'll have to take the plastic engine cover off to see). Also check the car's history to ensure the oil coolant line has been replaced as per the TSB. If there are no leaks and the car drives well you should have a winner.
Good luck!

I have a 2007 with 136,000 miles and still going strong. (knock on wood).
I was thinking of trading it in for a LS but I just can't let it go.... The ES is a great car. You will be very happy with either year..
