why are the red ES350S cheaper? i found a 2008 es350 that has all options (nav included)and with 28k miles, CPO , selling for $20900, but a simliar vehicle, with 40k miles, NO NAV is selling for $23900??
My friend said it is because the red ones are harder to sell?
I would love everyone's input.
ps sorry about the typo in the thread title.

The red on the 2007 and for a couple of years after was Ruby something. It then was changed to a more reddish Matador Red. I guess the more conservative colors would sell better and retain their value better on a car like the ES. I don't see too many of either red color on the streets around here.

In any car, not just the ES, colors like black, white, silver, grey, navy, the conservative colors are much more desirable.
Gold, bright reds, bright blues, greens, etc. appeal to a much more narrow market and take longer to sell at higher prices, so they tend to be cheaper.
Red of any kind, be it bright or maroon, is not a typical color of a luxury car. If you go back years ago the only american luxury car company making red cars was Lincoln. Cadillac, Buick, Chrysler didn't even offer reds until the 2000s on a lot of their luxury cars.

Just my opinion... Every time I see a red ES350 my first thought is: Camry. Same goes for the white ones. Not that that's a bad thing, since we all know we're driving luxury Camry's, it's just that someone looking for the "prestige" of a Lexus doesn't want to be mistaken for anything but.
Again, just my opinion. )

If you like the red color and can get an acceptable price on it the lower prices shouldn't hurt much in the long run. An '08 is 5-6 model years old and if you drive it for a few more years any depreciation due to the color wouldn't matter.

The black one is a 2010, the red is a 2008. That alone could explain some/most of the price difference.
To add to what others have said, most folks who step up to a Lexus expect a luxury car with luxury car colors (black, silver, grey, other muted colors). Red isn't considered an appropriate color for a luxury car.
Years ago a co-worker bought a bright red, used Mercedes sedan. Even back then he paid substantially less for it than for a more typical Mercedes color. It was FUGLY--looked like a Fire Chief's car.

Having a red 2011 since 10/2011, I have had many compliments on the color from strangers in parking lots of stores. Granted, I keep it washed and detailed almost all of the time. When I had the dark blue 2007, received just few comments on the blue changing colors. The metallic in the paint jump out and sparkle in summer sunlight. Just looks good.

I have to say that a beautiful red car is refreshing to look at in the sea of silver cars that populates the world. Personally, silver and gray cars are so bland to me, that I wonder why any one would own one. But this is all personal taste. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm sick of silver. More red cars!!!
