why are the 07-12 read exterior ES350s cheaper?

The red on the 2007 and for a couple of years after was Ruby something. It then was changed to a more reddish Matador Red. I guess the more conservative colors would sell better and retain their value better on a car like the ES. I don't see too many of either red color on the streets around here.
the Ruby Royal Paint job was only producted on 8% of Lexus's

When I bought ours the dealer had to have it brought in from another one of their stores because they just couldn't keep the Matador Red in stock. As quick as they came in, they went out. To me the red just pops. In the sea of silver, white, etc it just stands out and makes a statement IMO. Besides that, it's. my wife's favorite color! When momma's happy all is well.

I've got a 2010 matador red with chrome Lexus wheels and a mesh grill. I've had it for about 2 months and get unsolicited compliments on it all the time in parking lots. Probably 2 dozen so far. It's kind of weird. Although some dude at the gas station referred to it as "burgundy."
I had my gold 2007 ES350 for 4 years, I don't think I got a single compliment.
Whether or not I paid more or less for a red one, I think it was probably about the same if I had to guess. For used ones, it's so subjective.
We've got two lexus dealers in our market, but I bought my car in another major city, and I don't know that I've seen any other red ES350's around here.

You especially don't see gold used much in the tuner/modding scene. Black wheels don't look right, silver wheels look ok, chrome wheels don't look right, black or gray interior wouldn't look right, it's a tough color to work with.
