Default should i roll ? fenders

So i have 2 sets of wheels i am looking at
one is a 20x8.5 the other is a 20x9 both are the proper bolt pattern of 5x114.3
and high offsets for fwd.

the tires i am thinking of going with is 245 35 20 or 255 35 20

in the experience of those who have done this will i need to roll my fenders if i go with the 20x9.0 or only if i go higher then a 20 and get into 22s ?
thanks

also eventually i want to put some lowering coil overs but that will probably wait till sometime latter in the year.
do i need to count on rolling the fenders no matter what wheel size i go with if i am going to lower it ?

Are you actually planning on tucking the wheels into the wheel well with 20's or 22's!? I think with those wheel sizes you're going to absolutely destroy your wheel liner and bumper tabs before getting that far into the well for the rolling to be useful.

Also, you're a bit too wide in both those tire sizes to be able to tuck. If you're planning on retaining the oem suspension you should also look into other members who have done so. I assume you'll have trouble with the suspension travel of the soft oem.

Heres a link to one of the first people to throw on 22's on an ES. Back when the forum was more active.

I was going to put some coil over for lowering.
right now the shocks and struts are Monroe Sensatrac aftermarket not oem.
and they have about 4k on them.

So your saying that 245 and 255 are two wide ?
would a 235 but ok or do i need to go down to 225 ?

I don't think i am going to do 22s
id rather do 20s

will i be ok if i a go with a 20x8.5 or smaller ? and don't go up to a 20x9 or do i need to stay at 20x8 or 20x7.5

I have had 20s 22ns on my Cadillac's and my Lincolns in the past.
i had to do some custom work to the Cadillac that had the 22s but the other 3 cars i put 20s on
they went on fine no rubbing or anything and no altering of any other components where needed.

Maybe i am reading into this wrong because i never had to roll fender before to put 20s on my other cars.
i always read and understood rolling fender was to put a wheel tat would be a bit wider or when dropping a car down lower to allow more room in the fender and wheel well is this not what its meant for ?.

can i put a 235 or 225 (35) 20 or a 225 or 235 30 20 on without having to roll the fenders ?

I know everyone has their own style and not many people aprove of putting 20s on an ES i have had a few people tell me if i wanted to put 20s or bigger on a car i should have got a GS i don't understand
it really doesn't matter what you drive i think it matters
what makes you the driver happy.

here is one of the Rim's i am looking at and really like.
the website says it will fit but i have learned the hard way int he past don't always trust what a comptuer says will fit so i wanted to find out if others have had success but here is the link to one of the wheels i want
its a 20x8.5
and i was going to have the crome inserts painted ruby to match the paint colro

and here is another one i was thinking about .

Out of the two options that you linked above I personally liked the 2nd set better. Didnt see the offsets though.

The reason I asked about the suspension is because you'll obviously need a much stiffer suspension so that your springs wont compress hitting your fenders when you hit a pothole or have multiple people in the car. It really depends on the exact fitment.

I will tell you that I have NOT ran 20's but will try and give you knowledgeable answers with the experience I had fitting my aftermarket wheels. I personally ran an aggressive offset of +23 and had to roll/pull my fenders since I rode with no wheel gap. .

These specs are under the assumption that you wont be using camber.

I say that the max you'll be able to comfortably run in the front is 235. The main problem I ran into was with the sidewall. With 20's and ~35 or less series tires this wont be a problem. Its quite hard to gauge since the fender is around ~3/4ths of an in lip at least so you might still need to get them rolled depending on how far your suspension compresses.

With the rear you have quite a bit more room. You can either run a lower offset or run a staggered set up (although it doesnt make sense in a FWD car). The less desirable of all your options would be spacers as it is potentially dangerous unless you replace your studs.

Heres a calculator so you can see the possible size differences. You can measure the aftermarket to OEM wheel sizing too as I am not completely sure that my advice is 100%

40 or 45 offset with a 225/35 and 8-8.5" width rim and you might not have to modify the fenders. If it does, try a 235/30. Visit a wheel shop and have them test fit their display wheels and see how much clearance you have.

Thanks I was in at the Dealer on the 3rd
the one near me has a custom shop in the dealership JM Custom Creations
I asked the manager who i know and see periodically . I asked him about the wheels if i could put a 20x8.5 with a high offset like 35 or higher with a 245 tire without having to Mod anything els.
He said not a 245 but a 235 would definitely tuck under their and be fine in a 235 30 or 35
i asked about the 245 he said he would roll the front fenders but the rear would be fine.

I have no interest in going stagged fitment i see dozens of people pissed at the dealer all the time because they claim they where never told they would have to buy tires every 10k since they can't be rotated

I know from Experience that i take care of my tires good quality tires and proper care i can get at-least 28k out of a good quality 235 35 20

I got 28k on a set of Michienlines once
and i got close to 25k like 23 on Dunlops

the worst i ever got was 14k on some cheap Federal 595 tires i think
