Default If you don't CLAY BAR your car....

Last week I clayed my wife's 2010 ES, this stuff is remarkable. I have been using clay for awhile now and continue to marvel at how well it works.
My procedure is wash, clay, fix any chips and scratches, MeGuires #9 scratch and swirl remover, MeGuires #7 showcar glaze, and finally MeGuires NXT wax.

The finish is as smooth as glass when you run your hand, and incomparable shine

it does make a huge difference. However, I suggest you do a second hand wash after the clay to remove any residue left behind before you go on to your polishing and finishing steps.

Also, have you given thought to using a sealant after polishing vs. a glaze? That glaze will be gone the first rainstorm that hits it. Topping it with wax is all well and good, if you give the glaze enough time (24-48hr) to crosslink properly on the paint.

Typically I'd polish, then apply a sealant. Give it a week of dry weather, then wash and wax. Water still beads on my black paint and it's been 8 months since I did it last.

This or a IPA wipedown ( isoprophol alcohol / water mix)

I generally do engine clean with Simple Green before doing clay bar since there's suff that splaters from the open hood.

But agree with the OP . . .tremendous result- especially if you use a buffer with the polish.

My car's black, 6 years old with 60k miles and still gets compliments.

I'm a bit late with the pic. We're on the road

2010 ES350 27,000 miles

After reading your post I called Meguiars.
#7 is not a sealant and does NOT crosslink with the paint. It does NOT require a curing time.
NXT on the other hand needs 12hrs to cure

That's all well and good, but have you considered that the glaze may be hindering the wax's curing process?

And to think I pay $20 for a car wash, take it home, use Pink Wax, and I am in heaven.
