I have a 2010 ES350 with Michelin Energy Tires. I intend replacing the 4 tires with Bridgestone - Ecopia EP422 (eco) which has a better tread life and fuel efficient.
Has anyone used these tires in a luxury car? Thanks.

Does the v-rated Michelin Primacy MXV4 rank as high as the h-rated version?

No ....... at least according to Consumer Reports testing (overall 70 for H rated, 66 for V rated). Although it does better in wet braking, it is not as good in ride, noise, & rolling resistance.

The UTQG treadwear rating of the H rated 215/55/17 is 620 while the UTQG of the V rated is 500.

The V rated Primacy is a fine performer nonetheless and carries the same 60K mile treadwear warranty from Michelin as the H rated. It is one of the standard OEM tires now on 2013 Lexus ES, Avalon XLE, & Camry XLE.

Most people will do fine with the H rated Primacy. For spirited driving .......... or curvy roads in the mountains ...... probably the Primacy MXM4 is the best V rated performance tire. It comes standard on 2013 Camry SEV6 and Avalon Touring with 18" wheels.

My local Costco tire center told me that I would have to sign a disclaimer and it would void the treadwear warranty if I put H-rated tires on my Lexus ES350 because this model calls for V-rated tires.

Any truth to that, or should I just go elsewhere for the H-rated Primacy MXV4?

I've read some people using 225/55/17 Primacy MXV4 on the Lexus ES350. Is it just personal preference on how it looks, or are there other benefits?

I use 225/45/R18 Primacy MXM, V-rated on my ES330. Previously, I had Primacy MXV4, H-rated 205/60/R16 on the stock wheels. Both ride quiet and smooth with minimal noise.

Absolute BS. My H rates on my camry v6 (same powertrain & 17" wheels as ES) were purchased at NTB in Kansas City with no caveats. They have 48K miles on them now and will go to 60K if I want to push it .... but will probably be replaced at 55K to be safe. OEM Turanza's lasted 8,500 miles.

My H rated Primacys handle WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than the OEM V rated Turanzas. Costco was willing to put H rated on my (ex) wife's ES ...... but NTB did a price match so we got the H rates at NTB.

H or V ratings are speed ratings, and in North America are installed by the manufacturers based on the top speed capability of the vehicle it's installed on. They are an indication of how well a tire will handle heat buildup, which increases as road speed increases. Generally H rated tires tend to ride more smoothly and have more tire life than V rated tires. V rated tires usually handle a bit better than H rated tires. With that being said, my wife's ES350 has H rated Michelins, My ISF has Y rated Bridgestones, and our Silverado has T rated Michelins. The ES is not a spirited handling machine, my F is. The ES will never be near the 130 MPH speed limit of an H rated tire, my F has exceeded that number and will in the future.

IMHO, a good H rated tire is a better choice for an ES than a V rated one.

the Primacy is a great tire i like alot better then the Turanza that was on the car
i replace with Primacy a few months ago and they are really aweomse

Check out the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tires. They are quite, very good in rain and are rated at 70k or 80k mileage.
I replaced the original Michelins and they are the best all season tire I have ever used.

I was set to get the H-rated Michelin Primacy MXV4, but I ended up going with the Michelin Primacy MXM4 (V-rated) because it was $159.99 per tire (Costco's price was $196.99) along with a Buy 3 Get 1 Free sale currently going on at American Tire Depot in CA. $612 out the door with installation. I would've paid more than that for the H-rated Primacy MXV4 at Costco even with the $70 Michelin discount they're currently running ($634 out the door).
