If you watch brand new members who post basic questions, nobody is rude to them. They might get ignored, but people only get rude when it becomes incessant.
Its a certain tone of a person's posts that gets that reaction out of people. I can't really describe it, only that I've been around forums for a long time and I know it when I see it, and the OP's posts in this thread were full of it, which is why people reacted to him the way they did.
